Vello Hot Shoe Adapter - Converts Sony Hot Shoe to Standard Hot Shoe + PC Socket
Vello's Hot Shoe Adapter - Converts Sony Hot Shoe to Standard Hot Shoe + PC Socket allows you to use standard hot shoe mount flashes (or other accessories) on a Sony or Minolta camera. Because Sony cameras have a proprietary hot shoe, standard hot shoe accessories can't be used on them - until now.
In addition, this adapter allows you to add a PC connection to any camera that does not come with a built-in PC sync connection, while still retaining the existing hot shoe functionality (manual mode only, non-TTL).
Note! Note! This adapter does not support TTL flash operation.
Note! This adapter does not provide high-voltage sync protection, and is not recommended for use with flash units that have a trigger voltage of more than 6V.

Unless you go for the Sony expensive branded adapter, this is your next best thing. I've already tried 2 other adapters and they all snapped off after a few mounts and dismounts from my NEX-7. This is the only durable one that's lasted after a month use.
I've used it on my NEX-7 with a Pocketwizard as well as a ETTL Canon cord and they both work as they should (minus the TTL portion, all manual flash of course). There is that one slight problem with such a snug fit on to the NEX-7 that if not mounted all the way on, it does not get a connection to fire the flash off. A simple dismount and remount will solve that. No biggie.
Other than that, it works great and as expected. Off camera flash on a NEX-7 .. what more can you ask for?

I use it to be able to use my Nikon flash on my Sony NEX-7 camera. The thing that is good about it is that you can use any other non Sony flash. It sometimes doesn't make good electrical contact with the camera and has to be released and installed again on the flash shoe by pushing hard.

This hot shoe adapter does just what I hoped it would do and that is allow me to use my old (mid 1980's) Contax TLA 30 flash with my brand new Sony Nex 7. Seems to work just fine after taking some test shots. I plan on using the setup photographing grandkids indoor school performances. Was always pleased with the results shooting film with my Contax and I look forward to seeing how it does shooting digital with my Nex 7.

What I really wanted was to adapt the Sony hot shoe to take my Rode Microphone - and this adapter does this with no problems.
The mic fitting goes directly into the Flash fitting.
AND I have the flash hot shoe for when I can afford the "not Sony" flash unit.
The price is acceptable and I believe that I got good value.

i bought this to work on my sony a33 and sony a380 dslr in place of the built in flash incase i needed it and as a video light for my sony a33.....The bescor 180 watt video light that i purchased didn't have an adopter so i couldn't fit the bescor light to the camera.....The adopter that came with the light was for a sony cam recorder......i am waiting for it now.....Hope it works....i give it a 5 in anticipation that it will......

Bought this so I could use pocket wizard on sony nex7. Works great and has secure hold. Would have given 5 stars if pc socket were on the side. Just personal preference...
