Take control of your home theater experience. The URC-A6 Pre-Programmed Learning Remote from Universal Remote can replace up to six individual remote controls and features a dedicated light control button that gives you the power to control your home entertainment system with a single remote.

This handy universal remote is compatible with thousands of A/V devices because it comes programmed with an extensive library of codes. This remote has multiple set-up options including a "Quick Set-up" which does almost all of the work for you. You can also teach your new URC-A6 the commands from other remote controls with the "Learning" feature.

It also features one-button Macros to launch an automated series of interconnected commands. These can turn on your TV, cable box, DVD player, and surround sound system all at the same time with the touch of a single button. The URC-A6 even offers four "My Favorites" buttons that let you program five channels each for one-touch access to certain channels.

Control up to 6 Audio/Video Components
The URC-A6 remote control allows you to control up to 6 different audio/video components and operate virtually all brands of audio, TV, DVD, DVR, VCR, satellite cable, lights and auxiliary components like game consoles and music servers. You can enjoy streamlined control from the comfort of your couch.
One-Touch MacroPower Function
Say goodbye to your pile of remotes. With MacroPower, multiple devices work together with a single button. You can turn on your TV, DVD player, and A/V receiver all at once for streamlined, simplified powering on and off of your system from the couch.
SimpleSound Technology
With SimpleSound technology, you'll have total volume control over all the components in your system, even those that don't have built-in volume control like TiVo, DVD and VCR components. This adds another control option so you can customize your entertainment.
Four "My Favorites" Buttons
Program your favorite channels so that you can access them at the touch of a single button. Four buttons can each program up to five favorite channels (or a total of 20 button presses).
6 Macro Buttons for Commands
The URC-A6 has 6 Macro buttons that can store up to 20 commands in each button. Press any of the Macro buttons or "Automated Activity" to activate the series of commands.
Assignable Component Buttons
After programming the remote for all your components, you can simply press a button and all the buttons will work with that device. The convenient LED light in the component button will light up to indicate which component you're in control of for simple operation.
"Quick Set-up"
Manually using your old remote, turn on the component you want to program. Point the URC-A6 toward the component that you want to program and press and hold the component button. Once you have saved codes, the component LED light blinks three times to confirm your stored codes.
"Couch Mode" for Power Saving
The "Couch Mode" is exactly what it sounds like: after a button is pressed for more than 30 seconds, the remote automatically turns itself off. So when it slips between the cushions of your couch, the battery power won't be used up and you can enjoy worry-free programming.
Low Battery Warning
When the batteries are low and need to be replaced the component LED will blink three times when you press the power on button to eliminate any surprises.
On-Screen Display (OSD) Control
You can program the URC-A6 so that cable or DVD OSD controls like MENU, GUIDE, INFO, EXIT or SELECT will also operate in other component modes on the remote control.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-A6 Pre-Programmed Learning Remote:

This universal remote costs less than $15 and that is what you get. It is better than the [@] remote and does address several pieces of equipment but it has many shortcomings. TV programming began great by pressing a couple buttons and it was done; channels, sound and all the normal TV stuff. No complaint. DVD, not so good. The program codes provided wanted to turn off my different brand TV as well as the DVD but didn't turn it on, (Don't know if that is a feature or accident?). There was no button that I found that would open my LG DVD tray. I gave up and went to home theatre. Audio code worked fine and it programmed. Volume works but no buttons that I found to change input source for my equipment, (TV, DVD, radio tuner, Roku is not compatable, etc.) "Input" button was unresponsive. In short, after struggling with it for about an hour, I still have to collect all my remotes before retiring to a chair. Maybe I'll get ambitious and try again later.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-A6 Pre-Programmed Learning Remote:

This remote offered everything that I was looking for and easy to program and easy to use. The learning function did program my sound bar, however I did have to program every function, like volume up, volume down, mute and power button. Priced right.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-A6 Pre-Programmed Learning Remote:

I also own a URC-WR7 and a Logictech Harmony One. The URC-A6 is similiar to the WR7 - with capacity for one less device and no back lighting. However, the A6 is easier to hold and use one handed. Once you understand the programming methodology, the URC units are easy to program. I particularly like the 4 programmable favorite keys. You can program each key to cycle through 5 or more channels (depending on whether channels use 1, 2, or 3 digits). I use one key for 7 broadcast channels. The second key for sports channels. The third key for movie channels. And because my cable provider groups channel numbers by type of material, I use the fourth key to cycle through the start point of 4 groups of interet to me (and the channel up and down buttons to move within each group).

For complex systems - e.g. home theater, I prefer the Harmony unit. A common problem is that one device won't do what it is supposed to because you had the remote tilted a little off and the device did not see all or part of the signal sent to it. The Harmony unit allows you to easily recover from such problems. It is also much easier to program complex interactions among multiple devices with the Harmony unit.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-A6 Pre-Programmed Learning Remote:

I use this remote for my Denon receiver, Sony TV and Samsung Bluray player. It works great. The only drawbacks are that the pause button doesn't work for the Bluray, and I can't figure out how to make it select different inputs on my receiver. Other than that it's 5-stars!

Comments about Universal Remote URC-A6 Pre-Programmed Learning Remote:

Been using a URC-A6 for more than two years and there's hardly any commands this thing can't be taught. Just bought another to use with our bedroom HTPC. There's simply nothing better in this price range. The dual IR transmitters provide great range and fast switching. Very smooth button operation. My only minor gripe: I wish Universal had designed this to use AA batteries, as AAA battery life in high use could be better. Also, after two years of use, there's minor smudging on some of the labels on frequently used buttons -- but that happens on all remotes. Overall, love this thing.
