The CBP-C1 Compact Battery Pack for Canon Flashes from Bolt will boost the number of flashes and the recycle time of your compatible Canon flash. The CBP-C1 can operate on 4 or 8 AA batteries--alkaline, lithium or nickel-hydride (Ni-MH). Lights on the pack indicate Standby, Recycle, or Low Power mode. A thermal protection switch prevents overheating. The CBP-C1 can provide up to 595 flashes per charge, and recycle times as fast as 1.24 seconds. The pack, which weighs just 7 oz without the batteries, can also be attached to the bottom of your camera using the tripod socket.

Comments about Bolt CBP-C1 Compact Battery Pack for Canon Flashes:
While probably not durable enough for daily professional use, this is an outstanding product. I use it with a Canon 550EX, and recycle times have gone from from 5-15 seconds with 4 internal AA batteries down to less than one second with the Bolt external pack. Standby power consumption is also reduced. The noise the flash makes while recycling is dramatically reduced. The Bolt also comes with an excellent padded case that can attach to your belt either vertically or horizontally. I'm using Sanyo Eneloop 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. Note: The 550EX requires batteries to be installed inside the flash (in addition to the external pack) to operate the flash's display circuitry and work correctly -- any AA batteries (e.g., alkaline) will do. Wish I had bought one of these years ago!

Works better than I had hoped. Recycles my 580EX II in about 1 sec. And price is half the cost of the Canon version.

Comments about Bolt CBP-C1 Compact Battery Pack for Canon Flashes:
The Bolt battery pack is a great alternative to the more expensive Canon packs. It offers thermal protection that is lacking in most cheaper packs. This model comes with a belt case and mounting screw. I am very pleased, and surprised actually, by the quality, beginning with the nice four color box the case was shipped in.

Comments about Bolt CBP-C1 Compact Battery Pack for Canon Flashes:
I've been frustrated with my 580ex II's for a while. If I was using the flashes at full power and I didn't wait a full 5-7 seconds between shots, the subsequent shots would be underexposed.
I bought 2 of these battery packs (1 for each 580) and had a chance to test them this weekend. I was very pleased with the results. I fired the flashes very quickly (2 seconds or so), and every shot was exposed the same.
The only improvement I would suggest is the ability to unplug the cord from the battery pack. I use PocketWizards on my 580's and they require the AC7 shield to function properly. Here's the annoying part, I have to remove the flash from the AC7 to plug/unplug the battery pack.
Let me be clear, the inconvenience is NOT at all Bolt's fault. Other than that, I love these.

I use it to power my Canon 580EXII and it works just fine, the recycle time is very fast and it keeps the flash output consistent all the time, works exactly the same as the Canon brand but even better because the Bolt has battery life indicator.

Comments about Bolt CBP-C1 Compact Battery Pack for Canon Flashes:
I bought this because I had to add another flash to my equipment bag. These are a great substitute for the Canon battery packs. The battery magazine is constructed of much better plastic than the Canon version. The only thing that it may lack is an LED indicator and a velcro strap. But just put them up to your ear and listen to them buzzing and you get the idea they are in full operation. You can also get a basic velcro strap and slip it through the belt loop. Bottom line: Instant savings vs. the Canon but no velcro strap.

Good product for a cheaper price. I use it in my Canon Speedlite 580EX II. And it gives me more power and fast cycle for my flash. I just don't like the plastic construction of it.

Comments about Bolt CBP-C1 Compact Battery Pack for Canon Flashes:
Works to reduce cycle times. Even my old 430EZ cycles in a second or two. Its a little bulky to attach to a camera for on camera flash, but perfect for a light stand. The battery door is a little difficult to use and requires two hands to close, but still good value vs the Canon model.
