Exceptional light. Weight is not an issue as with some other ring flashes.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Ringflash ECO:
The Eco ring flash is a good and affordable ring flash (other brands alternatives are way more expensive)
There are no modelling lights, but for a ring flash it's really not a problem unless you want to use it off camera (which is not really what it's designed for)
The only cons I have with this flash is the construction:
- it's made of plastic, only the rails to attach it to the camera are metal. The plastic doesn't look sturdy: one fall and it will probably break
- the included diffuser doesn't attach firmly to the flash head and can easily fall
This flash works really well, but even at this "low" price (regarding existing alternatives) Elinchrom could have used metal instead of plastic. The only advantage of the plastic construction is to make this flash light weight.

This Ringflash was perfect for a skiing shoot on mountain where fast and light apply. I used it to light life style type imagery on Aspen Highlands and it was perfect.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Ringflash ECO:
All I can say is WOW! This light is amazing and has found a permanent home in my lighting toolkit.
This light is great, even and not as harsh as you would think (especially is you use the diffuser. It provides a lot of power and is best used up close for your subject. Moving the subject further away only makes the light even and flat and nowhere near as dynamic as having your subject stand closer. The ideal range for me is between 4-6 feet.
You can use this light as a stand along on a stand too and not just in front of your lens so you can shoot with a longer lens than say a 24-70mm.
My only negative comments are as follows:
1) the diffuser needs to attach more securely
2) there is no modeling light on this light
Those two negatives aren't enough to keep me from giving this 5 stars. It is worth every penny!

The Ranger Quadra Ringflash ECO is a lightweight and surprisingly amazing piece of equipment to have to add onto the Ranger Quadra series of light modifiers... The only downside is the length of the supplied cable that goes into the battery pack.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Ringflash ECO:
This flash produces excellent results! Its a great addition for my Ranger Quadra. I strapped the flash pack over my shoulder and hand held the camera and ring flash for an awesome unhindered shooting experience. This flash is so easy to use and I love the "ring flash" look.
Build quality feels a bit "plastic", but then again I'm sure that's why it weighs so little. I definitely feel I need to be careful with it. Highly recommended!

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Ringflash ECO:
The Quadra ECO has both plus and minuses. Having owned a Ranger 1500 WS Ringflash I was disappointed by the materials used. The 1500 WS Ringflash is rock solid, metal construction, built like a tank. The Quadra ECO is built all out of plastic and looks like if you drop it once you're done.
The ringflash also has no rear attachment plate on the back of the flash used to attach modifiers. I use a Hensel Oct Sun Haze with the 1500, essentially a ringflash soft box. No way to use it with this unit. The pieces to attach the ringflash to your camera work fine.
The advantage of the delicate construction is that the unit is very light weight. Whereas shooting handheld with a larger ringflash is literally a pain after a little while, the Quadra ECO feels like you could shoot hand- held all day with it. And combined with the Quadra power supply it is truly portable.
A white plastic diffuser is supplied with the kit allowing a softer quality light. This is welcome news. However it does fall off quite easily so I'd suggest taping down or otherwise securing.
If your wish is to have a ringflash that is light enough to shoot hand held with for an extended period this could be a smart buy for you. If you wish to own a ringflash that is built strongly enough to withstand professional location use I'd suggest you think twice.

Comments about Elinchrom Ranger Quadra Ringflash ECO:
I have three Elinchrom Ranger RX power packs and two Elinchrom Ranger Quadra A heads sets. I love them all, but find myself using the Quadra more and more because they are easy to transport, quick to set up and have sufficient power for most situations. The addition of this lightweight ring flash to my collection of tools is a treat. I love to shoot with beauty dishes, but this ring flash offers so many possibilities to create uniquely distinctive images. I love it for all that it promises to add to my photography.

Quadra Ringflash is 100 times better than flash attachments. Trust me I bought plenty of them and when you get this you will never go back. I recommend this to anyone who has the Quadra system. You won't be disappointed.
