The MP450 Octiv Stage from Altec Lansing is a docking stereo speaker system that charges and plays your iPad, iPhone or iPod. While it accommodates all of these, it's especially convenient for showcasing your iPad. A docking stand pivots between portrait and landscape orientation, so you can watch a movie in widescreen and then switch it back if you're just reading the news. Since it also rotates, you can achieve an ideal viewing angle and reduce glare on the screen. Whether you're watching YouTube videos, settling in for a movie, playing games or running apps the MP450 lets you enjoy them in comfort.
Dual 2" full-range neodymium drivers provide clear, room-filling audio to support your favorite entertainment. The unit also has an auxiliary input jack for additional audio devices like a CD/DVD player or computer so you can widen your options. The MP450 also has easily accessible volume and on/off buttons and a fully-featured remote control so you can make system adjustments from a comfortable distance. With versatile compatibility and convenient features, the MP450 is an ideal way to show off your entire family of Apple devices while enjoying rich, full audio to support your favorite movies, apps and games.

Comments about Altec Lansing MP450 Octiv Stage:
Most iPad docks are limited to portrait display but this unit gives me portrait or landscape with a mere twist. Add to that the ability to listen to my iPod or almost any other audio device and I'm a happy camper. The sound from Altec Lansing is really good for a unit this size. The base is stable so I can touch the iPad and I don't have to worry about it tipping.

Comments about Altec Lansing MP450 Octiv Stage:
Bought this for my friends for Christmas. I liked it because it was small enough for their kitchen counter. I've heard it playing about 6-7 times now and it does the job. I think it's great for it's price point. You aren't going to confuse it for a Bose system but if you're looking for a reasonable upgrade from the ipad's speaker this is a good piece.

Sounds great and can now listen to my music or stream Pandora in any room of the house. I saw another review that said that the iPad 2 didn't fit very well. They must have done something about that as this came with a rubber pad that you put on the arms and it holds the iPad 2 very well with it installed.

This is the most amazing product. I like to watch movies on my iPad, and this rotates from portrait to landscape so easily and the sound is great. I didn't think it was going to be this cool for so little money, but I love it so much I plan to get a couple of them for my friends.

I've enjoyed mine for a few months and take it along with me to small group teaching situations where I use particular pieces of music that I want the whole group to hear and enjoy. Am now ordering one for my Dad!

When rotating the ipad (ipad2 which doesn't fit very well) the arm broke! I'm waiting for the JBL one to come out. However, the sound was really good and the remote control is a nice feature. It's too bad it isn't more robust!!! I recommend not to buy.

Comments about Altec Lansing MP450 Octiv Stage:
i purchased this to amplify sound on our ipad when watching shows on Crackle. The speaker exceeds all expectations. Sound quality is very good, and I like that it functions as a docking station as well. The one con is the remote, which is tiny. I wish that the station had a place to connect that to the speaker so it does not get lost, which I am afraid that it will....
