The Portable Power Max (16000 mAh) from iSound is a back up battery for your iPod, iPhone, iPad or any other device that charges via USB. This 16000 mAh battery offers up to 480 hours of power for your devices so you can talk, listen to music and watch videos without worrying about running low on power. The unit features five USB ports so you can charge multiple devices at once and the package also includes a USB to mini/micro cable to connect to portable devices like smartphones, MP3 players and digital cameras.

I researched them all before purchasing this battery/charger. This is the only choice that offers amazing power, quality and value. For example I fully charged the Power Max and let it sit for over a week. It was still at full charge (4 lights). My iPad was at 40%, it took 2.5 hours to get me back to 100% while occasionally using my iPad. After the charging was complete the battery still had 3 lights indicating it still had 75% left.
Another great feature is the 5 ports. Obviously for the convenience of charging 5 devices on the go but, also Very handy while on vacation as a wall charger. Hotel rooms have limited outlets. This allows us to charge all our USB device through the battery as a charger (while charging the Power Max at the same time).
The design of the Power Max is very nice. Doesn't look cheap. Some complain about the size, I find it a very acceptable size for what it does. Fits easily in iPad carry bag I have. Also comes with a micro fiber bag to keep it clean and protected.
The addition of the "Y" USB micro and mini cable is a nice touch.
I highly recommend this product. I can't find anything negative to say about it. The ONLY thing that would be a nice future enhancement would be a built-in fold out wall plug to eliminate the adapter. But, the ones out there that offer that feature are under powered, have less ports and have had many quality issues as well as a much higher price.
This could also be considered an EMERGENCY device! The LED flashlight will provide HOURS of light with this battery! Imagine being lost and/or without power for days... This would help keep your cell phone and or GPS powered and potentially lead to a rescue. Hey, it could happen. I'd rather be with it than without it. Slip it into your backpack for peace of mind.

I purchased two of these batteries in my most recent order. Upon charging the first battery with the supplied charger it physically expanded & bulged (a precursor to explosion). It expanded about a centimeter (quarter inch) before I noticed & unplugged it. The second battery showed early signs of bulging & had difficulty charging. I was not prepared to temp fate further given the explosion & fire risk associated with faulty lithium batteries & ceased any further testing.
I sort comment from the manufacturer, I even sent them photos; it's been several weeks yet a reply has not been forthcoming.
If you choose to purchase this product do so at your peril. Keep a watchful eye when first charging the battery & do so in a room where there is a low fire risk (i.e. a bathroom). If the battery begins to bulge after 1-2 hours on charge unplug it immediately & report to retailer.

I bought this, got home and couldn't wait to try it oot. I wanted a way to charge my iPad (3rd gen) on the go, and this is it!!!
It's light weight, comes with a carrying case and charger. It even has a switch to turn the power on and off to maintain your charge when not in use. The built in LED flashlight is a puuuure bonus!!!
Don't even think aboot a less powerful charger, GO WITH THIS ONE!!!

We could have used this for a recent trip to Africa where power for recharging iPods/phones and other small electronics was needed. At 16K mAh it should be good for 10 recharges of an iPhone. Not a tiny device, but certainly not cumbersome either.

I have successfully found a battery backup that will allow me to charge both the iPad and iPhone on an extremely long plane trip -- 18 hours departure to arrival, and limited access to plug-in power. I put it to a test and found that it will charge the iPad from 11% to full with plenty of power to recharge the iPhone a couple of times. This is exactly the product I need for the need.
