Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
I needed a place to back up several home office computers with the added confidence of RAID5. This does the trick. Software that comes with it is good but could stand a little refinement. Every time I change a setting it runs the entire backup again and this can take all day.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
Quick setup and doesn't need a brainer to get the device running. Happy with the way things shaped up until when I came across an issue with my Axis camera. But then I realized it was my fault though the manufacturer gave a pretty clear list of axis cameras supported by the StorCenter ix4-200d, about 20 of them, mine did not feature in the list.
Anyway no regrets since I bought the axis camera online I was quickly able to swap existing one with one that was supported by the ix4-200d. After this I was able to setup my video surveillance and it worked perfect.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
To tell the truth there isn't much of the features missing in this 4 bay NAS compared to the savings it offers it is an excellent NAS to work with. 4TB is a lot of space to ask for and the configuration uses an array of four disks.I preferred the 4TB version of the ix4-200d even though it is far more than what I require for the simple reason that the 2TB version will offer the capacity in JBOD mode which I don't like. Of course RAID 5 can be used but I may have to lose some space for parity. My 4TB space is set in RAID 5 and I do not mind shedding some space to keep my data safe.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
It's quick, clever, silent, fully packed with features and a great design. Overall, I would call it a fantastic piece of equipment that has satisfied all my NAS needs.
Though the StorCenter ix4-200d NAS array came preconfigured for RAID 5 I changed it to RAID 10 for the sake of speed and it worked absolutely fast. Kudos to the web interface that is not just interactive but modern as well. Though I have read a few reviews on the ix4-200d having hardware issues I have not encountered one so far as these may be isolated incidents. Since the time I got this trendy NAS there is no looking back. Contented with the device I have suggested it to my friends as well.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
Being a virtualization buff I wanted my NAS server to have some advanced yet uncomplicated virtualization features and I liked the StorCenter ix4-200d network storage server and the best part of this NAS device was that it dynamically allots space for iSCSI LUN's, AFP shares, NFS shares and SMB shares. Space allocation is done automatically.
There are no removable drive bays and hence no hot swap functions available. But I did not have to remove the disks at all. The device comes with an external power adapter which I consider a positive aspect of the ix4-200d NAS device.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
Being a photographer and running a small digital studio I was in need of an impressive NAS server that could satisfy all my photography needs. After consulting with a few friends in the field I decided that Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d is the right NAS device for my profession. I ended up buying the device and as soon as it was delivered at my studio I initiated the setup process. With simple steps I was able to install the ix4-200d and backup was scheduled.
What I liked the most about the ix4 is the QuickTransfer feature. All I needed to do was to plug in my card reader into the ix4 and press the button and the rest is taken care of. All the images are transferred automatically. The LCD screen helps control my file download.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
I run 10 virtual machines on my StorCenter ix4-200d Network storage unit and the performance is truly amazing. My systems are a combination of UNIX and Windows. I access the data that are on my ix4-200d using iSCSI. Despite high network utilization the device works absolutely fine. Once the installation was over there was no issues connecting to the storage. I also store VHDs on the device and so far it has functioned to my satisfaction.
The ix4-200d is a complete NAS device that is packaged with a wide range of features and satisfies all my small business needs. The flexibility in storage options has made this device a wise option for small business.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
A sturdy and compact device the StorCenter ix4-200d network storage drive is a marvel. The NAS device holds up to four disks and mine came with four 1TB disks that can be removed easily by unscrewing the thumbscrews. The information about the disks is displayed on the front LCD panel in loop. Using the power button located in the front I am able to on/off the NAS device. There are three USB ports of which I connected one to my printer that is now on sharing mode. The other two are used to connect to external devices sometimes to charge my iPod as well.
The Ethernet cable and the power cable are the two cables that come with the pack and are extremely useful that helps to connect to the internet and to power respectively.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
The StorCenter ix4-200d is a pretty impressive network storage device. It is compatible with windows backup as well as Time Machine. So whichever category you fall under there are no issues when it comes to backup, though I use the windows backup. There are two gigabit ethernet ports for remote access. The drives have to be mounted sideways. There are four drives each of 1TB and I have configured it with RAID 5 keeping in mind data protection, though I had to lose some valuable storage space.
Once I installed the software and configured the ix4 everything worked as expected. Backup was never so easy before. Now I have no fear of losing an iota of my data.
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
I am a graphic designer, storage space was always a constraint for me. No matter how many external hard drives I use, there is always need for more and my work station is piled up with these storage devices. I wanted an alternative to my external drive, one that would perform better and have ample storage space. Then I decided on the Iomega StorCenter ix4 Network Storage device. Now I can have all my data stored in one place. Easy to access and neat to look.
The ix4 came as a great relief to me. The device is good looking and occupies very little desk space. I connected the device using the Ethernet port and setting up was no work. ix4 works with Windows, Mac and Linux. I have configured the device for JBOD so that I can use the full 4TB space and everything is fine so far. Anybody there looking for second hand external hard drives?
Comments about Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
The impressive Iomega 4TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server comes with dual gigabit Ethernet ports. I use one port for my LAN and the other for my internet. It is working like a breeze. This has helped to bifurcate the load. The device features BitTorrent file transfer and guess what, I do not need an exclusive PC for this purpose as it enables peer-to-peer file transfer, which means I do not have to switch on my computer when the transfer is taking place. The file downloads are unimaginably faster with BitTorrent client.
Integrating to social networking sites like Facebook is so easy with this device.
