I was looking for a home storage device so that I can take day to day backup without having to follow any complicated process. That was when a neighbor of mine introduced Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage to me. Initially I was not for the device, as I thought it would be out of my budget. But when she told me the price she bought it for I was zapped. A NAS device for this price, was my first thought. Then I went through the features in detail and decide to buy the device. I placed an order online and the StorCenter was delivered to me in two days time. I was happy to see the device.
With the help of my neighbor I went through the installation process and even set up the cloud. The controls were so easy. The 3 USB ports help me to connect to various external devices. The StorCenter has taken pressure off my back with its exciting features.

MY objective was to use for home business network for multiple computer and external access to common files along with FTP capability for larger file transfer from selected users that require controlled access. When recieved I was very impressed with the ease of set-up and the ability to control the different options (and there are plenty of them) It was a little slower than I expected. During the set-up there is an option for installing the latest updates to the firmware. after that update the display went bad. I removed the update with the factory reset to original configuration thinking the update may have caused a problem but it was the display that went bad. This was only several days out of the box. I ended up talking to several different IOmega reps on the phone and sent them emails with details of the problem with photos etc. each was going to get back but I had to get back with them. The actual memory storage function did not stop working only the unit display. The response time took longer than my alotted timeline so I ended up returning the product. (B&H was great with the return service) The other thing that was not clear before the purchase but was made clear after receiving it was data would/could transverse a foreign server and if that is a problem do not activate certian options. It could be a North American, south American or european server - IOMEGA has offices in those areas. I would probably still have it but the hardware issue was taking a little too long to resolve than I had available. I would recommend it conditionally - don't expect fast customer service from IOMEGA and be aware of the foreign server issue if your clients are sensitive to that.

Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
Easily organizable NAS with simple to use functions. Some of the good things about the NAS are that it includes enterprise-level features like iSCSI support and VMware certification. The NAS is suitable for virtualized environment. Multiple OS support is another added advantage of the StorCenter ix4-200d. I bought the 8TB version keeping in mind my storage requirement.
But if you want more try the 12TB one. The 2 gigabit Ethernet port helps to connect the ix4-200d that can be bonded for load balancing or failover. The NAS also supports CIFS, FTP, AFS and NFS not to forget Bluetooth for wireless dongle access.
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
Easy to configure, simple setup, decent plug-ins, cross platform flexibility, upgradable firmware, silent, USB ports, print server support, independent media server, green features and powerful support.
The StorCenter ix4-200d NAS is a reliable NAS that is in the market for long. I work on mixed environment (Mac and PC) and the NAS has worked flawlessly ever since the time of installation three years back. Despite taking in lot of load it worked smoothly. The drives have been working overtime and I have not experienced any issues so far. This is really a nice one to work with.
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
I have connected the StorCenter ix4-200d NAS array to my home network and have complete access to the iTunes library that is loaded on my PCs and laptop. The ix4 acts as a server and hence there is no need to buy a separate device to act as a server.
The biggest plus is that the ix4 can handle multiple audio streams without any breaks. Now I can access all my music from one NAS server which makes it so convenient. The ix4 gives me administrative privilege over user accounts and hence I can access any machine on the network and take backups without having to disturb the setup.
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
ix4-200d NAS drive gives me the confidence that my data stored is safe. Even incase of disk failure there is not a chance of losing data. The box does not take much of space. Near silent operation of the ix4 is a good feature. The sound of the fans is absolutely quiet but the hard drive makes a little noise. Emc tag made me buy this.8TB is more than what I require in terms of space.
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
The StorCenter ix4-200d is an all rounder NAS server. When I wanted a NAS device for my office I did not leave any effort to locate the best possible NAS appliance. I wanted a big storage space, high security, effective backup options and virtualization features. I finally landed up with the ix4-200d. This has covered all my requirements and at a very affordable price. The comfort of cross platform compatibility is hard to find in other devices.
It is the best NAS device as far as business users are concerned for its advanced features like iSCSI block access, remote data access, RAID support and many more.

Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
I am quite familiar with hardware and networking and hence I did not need any help installing the Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d NAS device. But I was ultimately stuck up while trying to install the software. I tried many a times but nothing seemed to work. Left with no other option I called up Iomega technical support. They heard my problem patiently and suggested that I unplug the NAS from the network before attempting to install the device. By doing this, the NAS was able to communicate with my computer and was able to set up various network options and formats thereby making my system work.
After installing and configuring the software, it worked to my expectations. From here on there is no going back. Good work Iomega!
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
For such a small price the storage space of 8TB offered by Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d is really big. The StorCenter targets small business enterprises and has a whole lot of features to satisfy its customers. It facilitates remote office and is far more impressive that other products in the same line. The features can be termed user friendly as it is seen on the network as media server which can be accessed by network compatible bluray player and tv sets.
I even use the device to slide through my photos using droid X from my verizon wireless. So for me the ix4 apart from being used for my distributed office also doubles up as my entertainment device.
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
Think of small business storage and cloud technology is definitely part of it. In the growing era of internet one cannot think of doing away without cloud storage and that is why Iomega has designed NAS devices with cloud edition. The StorCenter ix4-200d is one such device and has put an end to my third party cloud subscription woes. Now without having to pay any fee I can store all my valuable data onto my personal cloud. I now have complete access of my data whether I am in office or on travel.
The ix4 comes with four SATA II hard drives with a total storage capacity of 8TB. The drive is configured with RAID 5 and even if one drive fails there is absolutely no data loss due to parity of data.
Comments about Iomega 8TB StorCenter ix4-200d Network Storage, Cloud Edition Server:
The option to choose from RAID or JBOD was interesting. I first saw a review of Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d network storage server which was a deciding factor for me to buy this device. The ix4 has managed to put in four SATA II 3.5 inch drive bays that promises 8TB of storage space (less if you choose RAID option). The greatest advantage of the ix4-200d is that it will rebuild RAID and iSCSI block level access automatically.
Moreover there is a one touch transfer button incase you want to transfer all the contents to an external device. The NAS server is aimed at small business users but nevertheless it support UPnP media streaming and USB Bluetooth dongle.
