I mount my camera on a monopod to gain some altitude n crowded areas and this remote is perfect.
Suggest Velcro straps to secure cable to camera and monopod to reduce component strain.

I considered a wireless remote but was put off by the reported limitations, such as needing to position it in front of the camera. Simple remote wired shutter release for my Canon 5DII...way cheaper than Canon's version and allows you to push the button like the shutter, or lock it into the Bulb setting. Only used a few times so far, but it seems reliable and well-built.
