The 27" iMac Desktop Computer from Apple is a sleek all-in-one computer with a stunning 16:9 HD display. Capable of displaying 1080p HD video at full resolution, the display features a LED backlight and IPS panel technology for superior image quality. The iMac sports a sleek aluminum and glass industrial design, with a matching wireless slimline aluminum keyboard. Apple's innovative wireless Magic Mouse is included for cursor control, giving desktop users the same powerful multi-touch input capabilities that are found in Apple notebook trackpads -- in a desktop mouse form factor.

Each Thunderbolt port doubles as a display output -- they share the same physical form factor as Mini DisplayPort. You can use each port to daisy-chain up to six devices -- making it possible to connect up to 12 Thunderbolt devices two this iMac -- including two external displays!
The system also features USB 2.0 and FireWire-800 ports for device connectivity. An SDXC slot is built-in as well, allowing you to download pictures from your digital camera directly into iPhoto.
iLife '11 has a complete suite of digital creativity applications. Easy enough for anyone to use, iLife will help you edit your home movies, organize digital photos, and compose original music. The system is also powerful enough to run Apple's professional-level applications, perfect for those who are ready to move up to the next level of creative software.

It boasts 4GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated speakers, and the SuperDrive DVD burner. The glossy 27" widescreen display is powered by an AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU with 2GB of memory.
The 64-bit OS features Time Machine backup, which automatically backs up system data to an external hard drive. It also features intuitive Cover Flow navigation, the powerful Spotlight search tool, and Quick Look document preview. You'll be able to use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac.
The iMac is a strikingly elegant computer that will feel at home on virtually any desk.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I have been a PC user all my life. I am a professional photographer and process allot of large size images and do large scale video production. B & H was on time and delivered just what was promised. I was tired of all the pop ups, crashes and viruses when I was supposes to be fully protected(NOT).
Set up took all of about 15 minutes. This 27" monitor is stunning. I have had many top of the line monitors but this buy far is the best. I wasn't thrilled to purchased all new software (Photoshop) to go on my my mac but since the last PC virus not only got all my files but my programs too I thought it was the best time to make the move. I am very glad I did. I produced a large video production in half the time. I might mention I bought 16 gb of ram and it was less than 100 bucks. Go third party on your ram you will save a boat load. It only took a day or so to get used to the different operators and key strokes on the mac. If you have used a pc allot you will have no problem.
Let me mention what a pleasure it is to browse on the internet with this thing. I thought that my internet supplier was the problem-wrong. what took 3 to four seconds to load on my pc is instant with this iMac. Downloading and installing the programs I needed was a breeze. I will need some Microsoft products Like Access so I will be using parallels 7 that is provided free with this purchase, that saved 45 bucks.
One other thing I think is important to mention, I was getting frustrated with my work that have dearly loved all of my live. Costantley have to fix a pc problem or upgrade this or that, I spent more time on the process than doing what makes me money. My creativity was going out the door. It very inspiring to get back to doing work and not having to worry about your computer. Get a IMac they just work. If you are thinkinging about a mac Dooooo it you be glad you did.

I am a research geologist who uses satellite and digital elevation models routinely. The display makes these images come alive.
The design of the computer and its accessories is first-class.
Any computer, especially one in this price range, should include a recovery disc.
Switching over from a PC is not easy, and I have been too pressed for time to do all the necessary reading and studying--who has a couple of weeks to spare? So I have muddled along, no doubt inefficiently.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I'm a professional video editor and photographer. I love the 27inch screen. This machine is plenty fast for what I need it to do and I consider myself to be a "power user". I have not found anything about it so far that I don't like. If I had to come up with something it would be that it only has one firewire 800 port but that's really to a big deal because my external hard drive has an extra one I can plug into.

These iMac's scream! The Thunderbolt expansion along with the i7 processor and upgrade graphics card make this an all-around winning machine. Given the advancements in Thunderbolt expansion chassis I can see why this might work great for anyone looking to replace a Mac Pro tower as an edit station.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
The product was purchased to manage resource intensive digital applications. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB from the factory installed 4GB from another vendor. Initially I had been using a MacBook with a maximum of 2GB which was seriously inadequate for the programs that run. The product shipped on schedule but did not arrive on the promised date and I blame the carrier for the delay. The product is a huge improvement over what I had been using.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I bought this 27" iMac to edit videos. I wanted the i7 chip and the upgraded video card. I found the exact configuration I was looking for and was very happy to see the Red Giant bundle included as a bonus (I was planing on buying those items anyway, so SCORE!). It has only been a few years since I last owned a Mac, but I had no idea how much had changed with the OS. I am still finding cool little changes I hadn't expected; it's like a mini treasure hunt each time I sit down in front of the iMac. The speed is great, the multi-tasking is great and the picture for videos (even low-res vids) causes me to drool excessively. I can't think of anything right now that I would say that is not a pro, no cons. This was my first purchase with B7H and I am very happy with the whole process. I am already compiling a lengthy "wish list".

A fantastic computer. Very powerful i7 processor allows me to run video and photo editing programs ten times faster than my previous iMac. The large screen is breath-taking and allows one to place 3-4 open application windows on the screen at once.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
This iMac smokes my early 2008 MacBook Pro. This computer is fast, sleek looking, relatively cables-free, and with a gorgeous display to top it off. I use Aperture 3 and Photoshop CS5 primarily to edit photos, and this computer handles it with ease. Setup was quick, and OS X is more fun to use than Windows. The only minor problem I have is that sometime the iMac will not wake from sleep. I have to do a hard shutdown to turn it back on. Hopefully Apple will address this issue via software update. Other than that, I'm extremely happy with my purchase, and B&H service is second to none. Don't forget to purchase Apple Care with it. I also recommend getting the Magic Trackpad so you can take better advantage of the multi-touch gestures in OS X Lion.

I use this for editing, along with the Pegasus thunderbolt RAID and it is extremely fast. Tasks such as encoding to h.264 take about 1/10th of the time as my previous iMac (about 4 years old), and rendering times in Final Cut Pro are very fast.
I would definitely recommend to anyone working in photo or video.

I use it with a small cheap external monitor for my email setup. I use the "two-up" settings in fcp7 for nice, large displays when I'm editing. The display is crystal clear. I don't have the usual complaints about the glossy surface. Upgraded to 16gb once I got it out of the box and it is blazing fast.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Great computer, super fast. Beautufil screen, it is glossy finish but has yet to bother me. The only thing to be aware of is with these May 2011 release iMacs you cannot update or remove and replace the hard drives yourself, it must be done by apple. This computer is everything you would expect and more, now we just need some affordable thunderbolt options for storage and everything will be golden. Other than [...] everything is perfect with this machine.

I was a PC user.
I mean I still use PCs, but this iMac changed me for good.
The display is just great, huge, clear, perfect resolution for my needs, I'm a professional photographer, and retouching now has a different meaning for me.
If you are thinking Mac is so expensive, think again, because buying a Mac you will have a great computer for years with great support from Apple.
This is the best computer I've had ever and my workflow is blazing fast now, I can take more clients and do everything faster and better.
