International orders*The Voyager 5-3 Night Vision Biocular from ATN (American Technologies Network), is a medium to long range night vision biocular. Bi-ocular night vision devices combine the best features of monoculars and binoculars - featuring one objective lens and two eyepieces. The Voyager combines a high quality image intensifier tube with two eyepiece oculars allowing the comfort and long viewing sessions of binocular use. The ATN Voyager comes with easy to use digital controls, a detachable 100-yard infrared illuminator and a proximity sensor that automatically turns the unit on or off. It has a rugged and practical body design, a hand strap and a neck strap, is water and fog resistance, and is tripod mountable. The optics come with ATN's Proshield Lens Coating. It has a range of focus from 5 meters to infinity. The user-friendly digital controls incorporate an automatic brightness control, a bright light cut-off and a low battery indicator.
The Voyager 5-3 Night Vision Biocular is distinguished by a 5x magnification, a 3rd generation image intensifier tube and a resolution of 64 lp/mm. The 3-Gen intensifier has a Signal to Noise Ratio of 22, typical. They last longer and deliver brighter images with greater detail and less distortion than previous generations of night vision technology.
The included Smart Digital Technology, through the proximity sensor, identifies the user's intention to look through the biocular. When the biocular is brought to the user's eyes, the biocular will automatically turn on. When removed from the eyes the biocular will turn off.
Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and the method of calculation varies by manufacturer. The important factors to consider when evaluating any night vision device are the intensifier tube's generation, s/n ratio, level of magnification, specified resolution, along with the clarity & light transmission efficiency of the optical system.
All night vision devices sold by B&H have mechanisms in place to protect the intensifier tube from a sudden burst of bright light, but this does not mean that bright light doesn't damage the device. No matter what, bright light in any form is not good for the longevity and performance of image intensifier tubes.
