works as promised. worked even better when I installed a amp in front of the cable line. Now I can watch TV on my old 2001 Sony TV. A good value for what I paid.

I use it on an analog tv I am not ready to replace yet but is no longer compatible with my cable. The digital QAM is compatible with this converter and the picture on my tv is as clear as it always was. This is a great way to keep those analog tvs going when the analog channels go away.
The only down side I am aware of so far is I now need two remotes to operate my tv.

Yes it does work on digital cable receiving all "clear Qam" (unscrambled) channels. This is why I bought it.[One reviewer says it doesn't work!] Just press the air/cbl button on the remote so it says cable. Select menu/auto search and wait until it's done scanning @100% (~30 minutes). I then used the skimpy remote to program a "learning" remote. It beats renting a DTA from the cable company for $1.99/Mo. If all you want is basic cable (receiving only local channels) then get this converter box. I did not deduct a star for the remote since I replaced it with a learning (programmable) remote.

I like the display, but I noticed they don't hold the channels I selected very long and I have to go back and reprogram the line up! But beside that it works great.

This TV station employs 2 web-streaming servers, both with RCA inputs, to stream the on-air product. Both utilized set-top converter boxes for the OTA signal. Replacing one with this unit fed by a QAM signal allows us to maintain the stream even when the transmitter is down.

The good news is that this converter does actually convert digital cable to analog TV. The bad news is that the picture is pretty bad. I tried it on my home TV and the picture was very pixellated and basically unwatchable. I took it to my daughter's dorm in another city and the picture was ok, not pixellated, but occassionally blurry or had lines thru it. I would recommmend getting a box from your cable company if you can. In this case, I think you get what you pay for and this one was pretty cheap.

It is far superior to our previous box. We are able to get more VHF And UHF stations than we expected. Breakup, distortions and signal loss are rare.If you are uncertain about which box to get,

I have been looking for a reasonably priced digital tuner box for quite some time. My cable company began going all digital and I was losing quite a few analog cable stations every few weeks. Spotted this box a few weeks ago and although the quality is not quite as good as the much higher priced boxes on the market. I had a very difficult time setting up the box to tune in the digital stations. The first evening I gave up after a few hours and tried again the following night. Somehow I switched one of the settings in the onscreen menu and it began tuning in the digital stations just fine. As a prior reviewer has mentioned it seems to pick up new channels and drop other ones which had been previously pre- tuned every time you do a channel scan. I did note something a few days later that if you manually input the digital channel (including the "dash"----like 64-12) the channel would come in just fine even though it had not been "pre-tuned" while doing the initial channel scans. I ended up with more channels than before the cable company started going digital. I am also able to receive quite a few HD digital channels which are quite "pixelly" on my older analog TV. Try to get a listing of the channel lineup from your provider and you should be able to tune all they offer even though they will not be in the box's memory. All in all a good tuner for the price as long as it keeps working!

I am using this box with a rabbit-ears antenna which has a UHF loop also. I am able to receive a few channels, and that's what one would expect. The picture quality is good. The operation is straightforward. Two things that need to be mentioned though: (1) The remote could be better, but on a [$] box it is not as bad as some reviews make it sound like; I bough an RCA universal remote that has learning capability, and trained it for this box, and that's a good enough solution. (2) Many reviews of this product mention that it can receive clear cable signals also. I haven't tried it, but it is important to know that there's only one RF input on the box, so at any one time, you have either the antenna OR the cable connected to it, not both. . . . Some people have complained that the sound has a hum on the RF output. I tried both the RF outputs and the component outputs, and both are clear; the volume is a bit lower on the RF output, but just a little.

Easy set-up if you don't pay any attetion to the owners manual. After initial set-up, scanned for digital channels. It found 9. Rescanned and it found 32. Did it again and it found 36. Sounded good, however, only about 6 or 7 actually were clear to watch. The rest would not come in or would be a mosaic and sound was terrible. This is running thru cable, so every channel should have been beautiful. WRONG.
