The 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition from Iomega is a powerful and versatile network storage device with a plethora of enhanced online connectivity features. The spacious hard drive connects to your home network via a Gigabit Ethernet connector and works to bridge the gap between local and online storage -- which is also known as cloud storage.
The ix2-200 is a dual-drive system, and can be configured as a RAID 1 or JBOD. The RAID 1 configuration mirrors data to both physical disks. This halves the available storage capacity, but ensures that no data will be lost if either disk fails. If you need the full 6TB of storage that this drive is capable of, you should configure it as a JBOD. In this mode, your computer will see each physical disk as a separate volume.
You can configure the drive to automatically upload files stored within specified folders to Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr. Its remote data access feature allows you to access your data when you are away from home -- all you need is an Internet connection. You can also invite friends and family to view specific files or folders stored on the drive -- a great way for you to share family snapshots and vacation photos with relatives who think that Twitter is a little yellow cartoon bird who is constantly harassed by "puddy tats."
When you are at home, you'll be happy to know that the drive can stream multimedia files to UPnP/DLNA devices. This includes game consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Apple TV owners will be happy to know that the device has a built-in iTunes server. The Home Media drive also has a built-in BitTorrent downloader, which can grab files from the Internet -- even when your computer is off.
If you are in need of a network backup solution, it should comes as no surprise that this Swiss Army knife of a drive does that too. It can backup all of the computers in your network, and is also compatible with online backup services like Mozy Pro and Amazon S3. Mac users will be able to perform network backups to the drive via Time Machine.
Photographers will be able to download photos from a digital camera to the drive via USB. You can also set the drive to downsize and watermark your photos, perfect for those who wish to share their work online -- but don't want to see it stolen and reproduced without permission. The USB port can also be used to connect an external hard drive -- giving you more room to store files -- or to connect a printer -- making it easy to print from any computer in your network. Users who use Axis IP security cameras will be happy to know that the StorCenter ix2 can act as a server for up to five of them.

Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
After all the StorCenter ix2-200 is not as bad as it was reviewed by some. Initially I was worried if I had made a wrong choice, well the ix2-200 has wiped away my concerns by proving that it is the best NAS for small office requirements. Connecting the device to my office network and getting it up was fun and the NAS instantly responded to my commands. Large file transfer also is great. This product would be ideal for people who are looking for media serving solutions as well. I wholly recommend this product to them.
The ix2-200 has excellent network backup and storage facilities that I am looking to buy another one for my home network as well.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The ix2-200 makes a great media server and that is why I have ordered one for my home use as well. I have the StorCenter ix2-200 at my office and it takes care of keeping all my data secure. Connected using the gigabit switch and the speed is amazing. It was while experimenting with my office ix2-200 I got to learn that this NAS has great media server features. I was able to share photos, music, videos from the NAS to any player like my iPhone, PS3.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
At my office we do not have a dedicated network administrator to deal with backup and maintenance. I manage everything with my limited knowledge. I have the StorCenter ix2-200 for about six months now and am using it as backup for my 5 computers in my office. I found the performance of the machine incredible. I have set the NAS device for incremental daily backup for all my computers on the network and it does the job fine.
Whenever I encounter any error I manually power down the NAS and when it restarts everything comes back to normal. I did not realize the need to call an expert as I did not encounter any big issues with my ix2-200. Very clever design.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The best NAS drive with some world class NAS features is hard to find elsewhere. According to me the StorCenter ix2-200 is very compact and quiet. The read/write speed is pretty good while on gigabit Ethernet. Sometimes I found the read/write speed slow down as well.
After consulting experts I realized that it was the fault with my Gigabit network and not Iomega. I had to change my router and network card and then everything worked fine.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
Being practical I know that getting a picture perfect NAS server is almost impossible, that is why when I started to venture for a suitable NAS for my home office I was particular that it fulfilled my business needs. I was adamant that the NAS appliance should definitely have decent file sharing and data backup needed for my office environment. I found all this in the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 network storage device.
The NAS was affordable as well and hence I jumped at the option. I was glad to find out that the ix2-200 makes replacing drives easier. The caddies can be pulled out by just removing the screws at the base of the ix2-200. A simple yet fulfilling NAS server.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
All that I wanted in a NAS device was available in the StorCenter ix2-200 network storage from Iomega. Be it RAID configuration, web based interface or storage space, ix2-200 satisfied all my requirements. The performance of the NAS appliance was good and that too at a price that I could never imagine. Though an entry level device the ix2-200 has some advance features like IP camera support, self downloading and remote access. I bought the ix2-200 for my small office where I require just simple file sharing and backup needs.
The server is fast and can cope with my requirements. The drives though not hot swappable can be detached easily by switching off the power.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The ample storage space is the first thing that attracted me in the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 network storage device. Hereafter there will be no issues as far as storage is concerned. Even data security has been taken care of by this device. The web interface is interactive. It is the best drive I can get for my home and it was quite within my budget as well.
There is nothing advanced in this NAS appliance, yet it is the best money can get if you are looking for a basic NAS drive that supports all the NAS features. The server is fast and responsive. Couldn't ask for a better starter NAS device.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The StorCenter 6TB ix2-200 has been in the market for quite some time now and as far as I have heard there are no complains about this NAS device which is why I decided to buy this for my home use. The device is whole as it comes with a USB port in the front panel which makes it comfortable for me to plug in my external drives and digital camera without having to struggle a lot. Moreover there are two USB 2.0 ports at the rear as well which I have permanently connected to my network printer. Three USB ports have made the device complete.
Talking of connectivity there is more to it as the device has an optional Bluetooth dongle meant for wireless transfer of data from the mobile phone and not to forget the gigabit Ethernet port for remote access. With so many connectivity options who would say no to this NAS device.
Comments about Iomega 6TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
I have put four machines on LAN and was looking for a suitable network attached storage device to backup all the four machines. There were certain criteria I had in mind. Firstly I wanted a huge storage capacity, secondly I wanted some private space to share my files with my friends, thirdly, I wanted the device to address my security concerns and finally, I wanted all this to be done without any hassles.
After weeks of research I finalized on Iomega 6 TB (2x3TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition, for one reason it had all that I wanted and even more. No regrets so far, the experience is unbelievable.
