Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
I purchased StorCenter px4-300d recently and I am in love with it. I wanted a USB drive as well and the px4 proved effective in this manner. The speed is fantastic, the aesthetics of the unit is attractive and the built in server features are truly excellent. The NAS came empty and the CD had all the required software. The setup was simple and connecting to my work place network was easy. Setting the drives inside the enclosure is fun, all that is needed is a hand screwdriver. The drive trays can be slid back and the screws can hold the drives in place. A simple NAS that does not give much of trouble.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
I use this product as a Raid mirror backup of all my important documents, videos, and audio. The product came with a few updates that were needed as well as some things that weren't totally in line (the unit showed that there was occupied space on a drive even though the drives were new out of the box).
Initial setup is not as simple as a regular USB or Firewire external hard drive, but the tech support was excellent in answering all my questions. The capabilities of this drive are many and there is much that I will probably never explore.
The Raid setup is sort of confusing to a new user, but again, tech support was there to assist no problem.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
Professionally designed product that I use with my Windows and PS3 is what I use with my iPhone as well. I am able to store files, stream movies and share pictures using the StorCenter px4-300d NAS array. I have installed the NAS at home and I am able to share my audio on multiple devices and that too simultaneously. I have installed 2X2TB Seagate drives and they work fine.
Even if any of the drives fail I have nothing to worry because the RAID keeps my data safe. I am planning to upgrade two more disks later. Even if there is a disk crash my data is safe and the performance does not suffer.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
I bought this NAS for my home network. The default RAID configuration is RAID 5 and I did not disturb the configuration. It is working great so far. The px4 shows some amazing media features that were great for my home media needs. I had a problem with this while accessing the PCs that were connected to my NAS. While my first PC was able to connect to the NAS, the second was unable to connect.
After checking with experts, I realized that it was because of the limitations with the security software. I rectified the issue and now all my machines connect to the NAS fine.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
The new generation px series gives the flexibility of choosing my own drives. This allows me to pick drives depending on my data requirement and business needs. Loading the drives was very easy as the drive carriers are located behind an easy to open front door. The NAS device is solid and operates without any noise. I noticed the power consumption also was less helping me save on my electricity bills.
The Storage Manager Software is superior that includes a desktop application using which I was able to connect to other NAS device. With all this there is no doubt that the px4 is the new generation device.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
Satisfies my virtualization needs, I have created storage pools, torrent shares where I can dump up to 1RB of files where I can access my Torrent share as a folder. The device comes with VLAN support. I am totally satisfied with the StorCenter px4.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
If I had bought the StorCenter px4-300d network storage device it is because it promised remote access. Sharing data from various locations was simple using the personal cloud technology on the px4-300d. I was able to set up collaborations and schedule backups on the cloud. Another interesting aspect is that the apps for my iPhone was also available, using this I was able to access my NAS easily. The desktop apps are so simple to use and even a first time NAS user like me was able to handle it without any issues.
The px4-300d simplifies a number of issues including photo sharing, all I had to do was to invite guests to join my personal cloud by sending invites.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
Product installed quickly and works well. Two issues we did have is the time required to expand or add drives into the RAID 5 striping and second make sure the drives when you install properly seat. Otherwise a great product.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
I was able to decide quickly over the Iomega StorCenter px4-300d network storage device, one for the wide range of choice when it comes to protocol selection and the other it supports almost all devices. Since I was looking for a simple NAS appliance for my small office I found the limited NFS and iSCSI configuration options not much of a hurdle. But if you are looking for customization then it is best you look for advanced options.
I find the px4-300d fits SMBs that are on the outlook for affordable storage space with some noteworthy features like cloud integration.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
Iomega claims that the storage manager software in the StorCenter px4 is far more superior to the previous version. I never had the chance of working with the previous version and am not sure about the superiority of this version but found the present version extremely helpful. The storage manager includes desktop application and web interface that helps to connect remotely. The px4-300d supports Iomega personal cloud technology. Using this I was able to share photos, files, videos with my friends and associates.
Iomega personal cloud acts as a central coordinator for my computer and connects to my px4. Setup was pretty quick and I was able to invite members to join my personal cloud once I configured the cloud.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
The Iomega StorCenter is a robust NAS unit that delivers more than it promises. Do not forget to install the updated firmware. The disks can be hot swapped which means whenever one disk fails it can be removed without disturbing the other disk or without halting the system. The RAID configuration has ensured the safety of my files.
If you are looking for faster storage then remember to add a few more drives. More the drives the faster will be the performance as the IO is distributed across the drives. Setting up ISCSI block level access is also easier. The USB device is platform independent and can work fine with Mac, Windows and Linux.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
The Iomega StorCenter px4-300d NAS drive may have many features to show off with pride. But what appealed to me the most is the USB high speed 3.0 port that helps quick transfer my data from my external hard drive to the NAS device. The drive is located on the front of the device making it highly accessible.
Another aspect that appealed to me is the convenience with which the disks can be removed. Just open the front panel door and drives can be removed, there is no locking provision. The px4 facilitates hot swapping of drive which means that any bad drives can be removed and can be replaced with a new one without disturbing the other drives. I have also left one drive slot free and the device works perfectly fine.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
1. The user mounts disk drives into the provided carriers, then slides the disk into this enclosure and closes the latch. This is all done very easily.
2. I had great difficulty getting the default IPR changed to suit my network, but now that it is correct, using the browser interface to setup access to the unit is what you'd expect, both for writing and reading. (I haven't tried multiple users or various limited access settings - but single-user full-access works great).
3. I haven't tried the cloud capability yet either. However, it's frightening to note the user-directions seem to be only a pick-list of obscure options the user may try rather than specific instructions, along with some comments explaining why it may not work at all on some networks. Apparently people with a LAN whose router/switch is connected to a cable/telephone company's modem/router (a fairly common arrangement) may have the greatest difficulty getting its cloud feature to work. But remember, I haven't actually tried this setup yet.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
With 12GB storage capacity Iomega StorCenter px4-300d is right for my small office. The Network Storage Enclosure comes with 4 bays which I use with my HDDs. The 1Uform factor is a true space saver even with my 4 HDDs. Though, the device can be run with partial disks as well. The PX network storage solution is a true SMB network storage solution. This product is right for small office and comes with excellent storage and security features apart from being easy to use.
The price according to me is affordable and moreover it comes from a brand like Iomega so I did not give it a second thought.
