The StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure from Iomega is a network storage enclosure, perfect for use in small offices, workgroups, and home networks. It can house up to (6) 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drives or SSD drives. It connects to your network via dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and offers advanced features such as iSCSI block access, RAID support, and remote data access. It is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux clients.
Business users will be happy with the vast functionality of the device. It can be connected to a UPS monitoring port, act as a print server of Axis IP security camera server, and supports rsync device-to-device data replication. I use Iomega px6 to protect and to preserve my files (documents, photo, music, films) and to be able to use them to house (wireless with AirportExtreme) or anywhere there is a connection internet, thanks to the Iomega Personal Cloud.
Things that are great about it:
Excellent the compatibility with Mac OS X Lion, simple and functional the software of management (Storage Manager). The px6 supports 6 HDs and/or SSD in Raid 0, 1, 5+1, 6, and 10. It has good processor, memory and three USB3. The instrument is small, silent, and of good invoice.
Things that aren't so great about it:
The documentation is poor of details. It misses a led devoted to every single HD. The display shows only few fundamental information, for every other detail you must be used the "Storage Manager" software.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
This six bay NAS has all pros be it the robust body or the unmatched performance. With fully populated drives I got a decent storage space. While checking out the write speed I was able to note that it is faster than most of the conventional drives available in the market. The heat produced by the device also is low and has nothing uncomfortable. The six bay drive carriers are easy to handle while inserting and removing the disks.
The UPS support ensures controlled shut down which means no chance of disks getting corrupt. Monitoring the device also is simple. Both shares and iSCSI works perfect.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
With six bays the Iomega StorCenter px6-300d looks appealing and it is does not clutter around my office. The robust and elegant design has given a lift to my office. Not just the looks even the features are highly superior that no wonder everyone calls it an advanced NAS for complex user requirements.
The px6 promises multiple functionality. The UPS monitoring system provides safety from unannounced power cuts. px6 also supports device to device data replication. Bit Torrent client allows downloading of files even when the computer is not powered in.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
Though there are umpteen numbers of possibilities with the Iomega StorCenter px6-300d I found the personal cloud option attractive. Earlier Iomega supported just Mozy but looks like they have now come with added supports like Amazon S3 and EMC Avamar backup. I found configuring multiple storage pools and volumes among the pools to be very flexible. Installing the personal cloud was easy as I had a router supporting UPnP NAT traversal. The dynamic NAS service is required to map to the subdomain which was available free from Iomega. Another attractive feature is that the Iomega has an SDK that is used to build apps for its lifeline NAS. Sharing media, copy jobs are just a few to mention from the extensive list of features provided by Iomega for its px6-300d.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
I was in the market to replace my HP Windows Home Server after it died. After researching MANY alternatives, I settled on the Iomega unit.
I was looking for the following:
1. large capacity
2. ease of use
3. compatability with PC and Mac
4. storage protected against drive failure
5. good selection of included software
The Iomega px6-300d met all of these criteria.
It was not the most inexpensive alternative, but if you want something to "set and forget", it has worked flawlessly so far (60days)

I was looking for something advanced for my office and ended up buying StorCenter px6-300d network storage device. As the name suggests the device came with six bays and a big storage space of 6TB. The px6-300d came with a wide range of RAID options 0, 1, 10, 5, 6 and not to forget JBOD. Overall the device was packed with features that brought my storage woes to an end.
To top it all the device came with Iomega personal cloud technology. Now not just remote access but sharing also is made simple. All I had to do was to send invites and the users and share the data online. I was able to share resources using this NAS appliance for which I had to first create a RAID array. It was simple and helped in sharing resources.

Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
I store 7 tb of HD video that I can access from anywhere in the world where I have internet. It was fairly easy to set up. I had a few issues but the customer support was great. I never even had to wait.
The only issue is that it may take awhile to access large files remotely. That is simply because of the internet speeds. As internet speeds increase, so will the performance of the remote access of this server.
I wish it had thunderbolt or firewire 800. It does have USB 3.0 though for the PC people.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
The StorCenter px6-300d network storage server was delivered in a sturdy cardboard box so there was no damage to my product. The package consisted of a NAS server, LAN cable, Ethernet power adapter, software CD, installation guide, product catalogue and a few screws. Installation was simple as I had to just connect the power cable, connect to the network and install the CD. The user manual was helpful. The Iomega storage manager tool for windows helped me get the NAS server up and running within no time.
The device hardly makes any noise and has better cooling facility. Though the device has the space to hold six disks it does not look bulky. The disk bays can be accessed via the front door. The door is made of plastic mesh and Iomega has taken care of ventilation issues also.
Comments about Iomega StorCenter px6-300d Network Storage Enclosure:
Iomega StorCenter px6-300d is the most suitable for SMBs. This is an advanced level network storage device that supports Solid State Drives, comes with dual-core Atom processor, 2GB RAM and Dual gigabyte Ethernet connectivity for a higher bandwidth. The NAS enclosure does not come with hard drives and has to be bought separately.
I was confused as to what type of hard drive to buy and called Iomega technical support they were kind enough to offer me list of suitable drives from which I made my choice. Six bays can accept 6 SATA or SSD drives. The device comes pre-configured with double parity RAID 6 protection. This is a welcome move by Iomega as it saved time on configuration, moreover it does not add to the cost of the array. I started to create iSCSI storage pools which were undoubtedly simple. There is no loss in spending money on this NAS enclosure.
