The Wimberley CK-550 Soft-Touch Knob Conversion Kit enables you to replace the round tilt-adjustment knob on older Sidekick and Wimberley Heads with a five-lobe, soft-touch knob that boasts better ergonomics and can be operated more easily.

Worth the money to change out the disk from the older version of the Sidekick. Better feel and easier to grip in bad weather. The cost is small and it get's caught on less in my camera bag.

This conversion improves the Sidekick both functionally and cosmetically. The 5-lobe knob is easier to turn and you can see the movement. I also like the softer touch. The surface is of high density rubber. The old disc knob is of hard polymer. For my Sidekick I opted not to installed the newly included flat washer as shown on the left in the product picture. This allows my Sidekick to have full range of tension. So if you buy this, try with and without it and see which way you prefer.
For packing, this knob is thicker and so protudes more onto the side. However the diameter is smaller than the old disc knob. So overall it's a wash.
