The 27" iMac Desktop Computer from Apple is a sleek all-in-one computer with a stunning 16:9 HD display. Capable of displaying 1080p HD video at full resolution, the display features a LED backlight and IPS panel technology for superior image quality. The iMac sports a sleek aluminum and glass industrial design, with a matching wireless slimline aluminum keyboard. Apple's innovative wireless Magic Mouse is included for cursor control, giving desktop users the same powerful multi-touch input capabilities that are found in Apple notebook trackpads -- in a desktop mouse form factor.
The built-in FaceTime HD camera hides discreetly above the LCD screen, giving you ready access to a webcam for Internet chat and conferencing. It will let you make video calls to other Mac users with the included FaceTime app, as well as to anyone with an iPhone 4 or an iPod touch model with a built-in camera.
The iMac features two Thunderbolt ports. Thunderbolt is a high-speed interface that can move data at an amazing 10Gbps -- double that of USB 3.0. Each Thunderbolt port doubles as a display output -- they share the same physical form factor as Mini DisplayPort. You can use each port to daisy-chain up to six devices -- making it possible to connect up to 12 Thunderbolt devices two this iMac -- including two external displays!
The system also features USB 2.0 and FireWire-800 ports for device connectivity. An SDXC slot is built-in as well, allowing you to download pictures from your digital camera directly into iPhoto.
iLife '11 has a complete suite of digital creativity applications. Easy enough for anyone to use, iLife will help you edit your home movies, organize digital photos, and compose original music. The system is also powerful enough to run Apple's professional-level applications, perfect for those who are ready to move up to the next level of creative software.
The computer is powered by a quad-core 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 processor for superior performance. It boasts 8GB of RAM, a 2TB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated speakers, and the SuperDrive DVD burner. The glossy 27" widescreen display is powered by an AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU with 2GB of memory.
The 64-bit OS features Time Machine backup, which automatically backs up system data to an external hard drive. It also features intuitive Cover Flow navigation, the powerful Spotlight search tool, and Quick Look document preview. You'll be able to use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac.
The iMac is a strikingly elegant computer that will feel at home on virtually any desk.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
I got the computer delivered ahead of schedule and installation and set-up was simple and painless. I also ordered the new Adobe CS6 Master collection, as I am using this unit for video editing, multi-media and photography. The only downside so far is I am having trouble purchasing & downloading Final Cut Pro from Apple. This is a great computer, with blinding fast speed. No downsides yet, & I wold recomend it to anyone in the multi-media, film or photography fields.

it was like christmas morning, the anticipation...watching out for the delivery guy - all of a sudden i said to myself "wait, when did i become a tech geek!"right out the the box my 27" iMac has been a beaut, running smoothly, no problems - i did upgrade it to 16GB of ram (but made the purchase from crucial for the upgrade, saved some dough - it's not rocket science to pop in that ram)photoshop, indesign, illustrator - they're lightning fast. what a difference the 3.4ghz and 16GB make!cons: came pre-packed with a wireless keyboard, i like the keypad so would have liked the option that you get from the [@]of getting a wired keyboard instead.

I was ready to pull the trigger on this exact speced machine on apples website when I decided to check B&H out of curiousity. I was able to get the same machine for hundreds less (also avoided close to 10% IL sales tax). The savings more than payed to max out the ram and get a great deal on the Apple Care service plan.I have bought all my Apple machines through [@] in the past, but will stick with B&H into the future.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Purchased this computer and added an additional 8 gigs of RAM... make sure to purchase the additional RAM From B&H, really easy to install on your own. This is a screaming machine. Running Parallels 7 Desktop for Mac, which happens to be free with the purchase of the Mac from B&H.. running STEAM and basically playing all sorts of graphically intense games lik Call of Duty Black Ops and Arkham City. no lag with this machine and that's during the evening... during the day... it's a Video and Graphic Designer's dream tool. You must get this machine...
My current configuration... iMac 27" with 16gigs RAM 2gigs of Video RAM / 2 Thunderbolt 27" monitors, Apple Wired keyboard, Logitech G5 mouse / Bose Speaker system. Do NOT BUY this computer directly from Apple, you will be overpaying by hundreds... buy from B&H and save on Sales Tax and Shipping.
Disclaimer: I don't work for B&H, just a fan of B&H.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
The 27 inch iMac is amazing! It has a really huge screen so it's perfect for watching movies and whatnot. It also makes it easier to multi-task which I love. Overall, with Lion iOS it's a great tool, especially for school work and entertainment. The only thing that I don't like is the weight--which actually isn't a big problem. I've only had to transport it twice--and it was a little heavy, but nothing serious. That issue doesn't even crop up on a day to day basis. Honestly if you could have perfection in a computer, this one is pretty darn close.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Was hoping to upgrade my speed, storage, etc., for the 21st Century, coming out of a 2004 Mac G5 Pro, and was thinking why not "downgrade" to an iMac? Was worried about exchanging the tower for no tower, but so far nothing to worry about and the HD 27 inch monitor is to die for. The double Thunderbolt ports kind of sold the deal. I'll be able to do just about any video project, once the Thunderbolt storage devices come out.
I do graphics work and video work and this is kind of like coming out of the dark ages. The screen alone is worth it! So far any HD video files I've imported have no problem at all with FCP X, which is also a huge improvement over my ancient version of FCP HD. The speed alone makes it's clunky operation worth it. Not to mention all of the time saving features, like squeezing multiple image files en masse. So I saved some money and got myself a huge advantage in being able to see what I'm working on. Perfect for guys like me, artists who dabble in a lot of stuff and as far as I can see, professionals as well.
