Adaptimax Plus Nikon Lens Adapter for Sony PMW-F3
The Adaptimax Plus Nikon to Sony PMW-F3 Lens Adapter allows you to use any Nikon lens, including DX and G series (which do not have an external aperture ring), with the Sony PMW-F3 camera. The CNC-milled aluminum adapter fits the F3 mount of the Sony PMW-F3 compact Super 35mm HD camcorder so that it can accept a Nikon lens.
For Nikon DX and G series models, the adapter's thumbscrew makes contact with the small lever that opens the iris of the lens. This specially designed thumbscrew allows you to open and close this lever, thereby adjusting exposure with far greater precision than the simple selection of an F stop allows.
The 1.5x magnification factor of the Adaptimax Plus makes it perfect for telephoto or macro videography, enabling impressive results that extend beyond the capabilities of the stock Sony PMW-F3 lens.
Note! The PL adapter must be removed from the F3 before attaching this adapter.

Very well made adapter. Fits my lenses precisely. I shoot wildlife shorts mostly, my last two were of gorilla's. I also have the Adaptimax canon adapter. Both are quality adapters. I am very pleased with my purchases.

Very good build quality, works well with AF-D and AIS lens. Poor design of the aperture adjusting screw. Cannot fully open aperture on some of Nikon AF-S lenses, such as 16-35/f4 and 50/f1.8G.

I needed to find a simple solution to allow our F3 to be used in a quick shooting mode, i.e, Not having to use my Primes which, although I love using and the look I get from them, constantly changing lenses when shooting quick turn around material without an assistant was holding me back! To solve this issue, I decided to get a couple of zooms.
The Adaptimax Plus Nikon to Sony PMW-F3 Lens Adapter is pretty much what I was expecting. I actually brought my Nikon ED 80-200 for my F3 before I brought this adapter as I was confident that it would do the trick.
When it arrived, I simply wacked it on the front of the camera, fitted the lens and was shooting in a matter of minutes. It is quick to fit and remove when you want to go back to the PL adapter.
I was also searching for a second hand Nikon wide zoom (17-35) or there about, with an external aperture ring as I wasn't convinced that I'd be happy the screw system on this adapter. I was pleasantly surprised how well the screw system works! This changed my approach to deciding on a wide zoom, allowing me to look at other, cheaper options. I ended up buying a Tamron 17-50mm zoom with internal aperture. Not what I would normally look at buying, but this adapter gave me the option to buy a cheaper lens that does the job well enough.
So, great result, I've now been using this system for a couple of weeks, and I'm really happy with how it all works.
