This Photogenic 60" umbrella with its removable black cover has an extra white satin panel added during construction. The result is the elimination of the reflection of the metal frame of the umbrella in the eyes of your subject, or on highly reflective surfaces, such as chrome or brass.
This size is perfect for portraits of small groups of people, and medium sized product set ups.
Note:Ribs are hidden in bounce mode. Removing black cover for shoot-through exposes the ribs.

This is a great umbrella. I have three. However, one of mine is beginning to fall apart. The little threads that hold the frame together with the satin cover are starting to separate. I am constantly having to reattach the black outside material back to the frame via the little end caps. If you handle them very carefully and don't pack them in light stand cases (as I do), then they should last a long time. I just got a new one in the other day and it's real sweet!

good results but quality is far from good. When you remove the black cover to convert to a shoot-through it's really a pain. The black cover comes off easy enough but it would be very easy to lose the plastic cap and rubber washer that hold the black cover on. Additionally, after 2 uses the seams are starting to rip and that's my biggest complaint - it's not going to last or hold up under pro use. I also hate the exposed ribs when you remove the black cover. Next time I'll spend whatever I need, to get a high quality product. My fault - I cheaped out! First product from b&h that I didn't like!

The ease of an umbrella with the soft light like a softbox. Fabric that hides the ribs make this a great tool. Use it close for nice soft wrap around look.

Great for casting a large pool of light over a large area. I use for shooting interiors of homes and buildings. Easy to use and lightweight. Hidden ribs prevent shadows.

fairly solid, but if you catch it in the wind it'll turn it inside out (this is actually my second of these)
nice light in both reflected and shoot thru mode, great all around modifier!

This is a good umbrella but it has a few issues. When I recieved mine the black cover already had a small tear near the center hole. There are also some issues when you install/remove the cover. Otherwise, I am quite pleased with this product.

black cover is difficult to remove. Construction is very weak. Umbrella lasted all of 2 shoots before seams began to rip apart. Otherwise light is fine and consistant.

I've been using a couple of huge 4'x6' soft boxes in my studio for some time now. The 60" is a great solution for "Big" light on-location. Really clean catch light in the eyes.

Remove the black cover and use it for double bounce shoot thru with a smaller umbrella bouncing light back into the Eclipse. Creates nice wrap-around light.
The black cover is held over the frame by a plastic nut which I will probably lose at some point.

My first light modifier for OCF. I am very pleased. Originally I was afraid that a 60" would be too large for a 580EX II, but it is more than enough.
The lack of the ribs when in reflective mode is nice. It gives very soft light in either modes.
I am very pleased with this umbrella.

I use it for Studio and in home setups.
It is sturdy, well built, holds its shape and has a nice a light output quality.
For large areas, these can be aimed at ceilings to give you a better illumination of larger areas. you'll need high power strobes and a wireless trigger. I find no cons at this point in time..

Offers the conveniece of quick setup and compact storage needed for event photography with the added benefit of fabric covered spokes for more pleasing catch lights.
A few things to beware of:
1. It's 50" in diameter not 60". So it doesn't provide much more coverage than a 45" umbrella since its only 5" bigger.
2. It's heavier than a standard umbrella so I recommend using a sturdy light stand to support it securely. I use a Matthews Medium Duty stand.
3. The sitching on the fabric covering the spokes looks like it could wear out but it's so inexpensive, I'm not going to worry about it.
4. For group shots the catch light is so small you can't tell the difference between a normal umbrella. For closeups I still prefer a softbox, but its better than a regular umbrella.

Love the Eclipse line of umbrellas--bought this to replace one that just died after many years of use. Well made, and the solid shaft does not fail after numerous tightenings in the holder. Also love the fact that the ribs are not exposed, PLUS shoot-through as well. Well worth the price!

I'm using two of these umbrella's for group portraits. I love that the inside doesn't show the frame of the umbrella and the white inside cover has a great sheen to it that renders great whites!
