The Asus PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Computer Display is a budget-friendly monitor that boasts P-IPS with 98% Adobe RGB coverage. That translates into a wide color gamut with reproduction of over 1.07 billion colors. Increasing the display's color capabilities would be the pre-calibration of the monitor which ensures color accuracy out of the box. Additionally, a 178° wide viewing angle prevents color shift from occurring on the screen, no matter what angle you're looking from.
The display also features a 12-bit Look-up Table. That means that RGB colors have greater depth, or smoother, more accurate color resolution. There's also the QuickFit virtual scale which helps you to see your documents on the screen in their actual size, with a grid on top for precise viewing and editing. Other highlights include customized color adjustment and picture-in-picture capabilities. Ergonomically, the PA246Q adjusts to fit your needs with swivel, pivot, tilt, and height adjustments. And when it comes to connectivity, the screen features the following connections: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, D-sub (all cables included), and it also comes with a 7-in-1 card reader and two USB 2.0 ports.
Supporting Formats: Document: A4, letter Photo: 8 x 10", 5 x 7", 4 x 6", 3 x 5", 2 x 2" Grid: Alignment, Centimeters, Inches

I use the monitor for editing my scanned tiff images from a Nicon Cool Scan V ED, as well as my RAW files from my Canon 1d III. I'm a serious amateur nature photographer trying to sell/ publish, (magazines, galleries), my photos, so color accuracy is vital to me. I have the monitor and my Epson R2400 printer calibrated through a Color Munki so that they render color images similar to each other. The monitor runs great at 1920 X 1200 and 32 bit color depth off of a VGA cable for now. The monitor's front panel buttons are difficult to see in low-light situations, but they are easy to navigate through when setting Adobe RGB and other needed features. I still don't understand how to use the on-screen grid displays, but I primarily use this monitor for my photography, so this is not important to me. The best feature about the monitor is the price vs. features; I don't know how they can make a monitor with 1920 x 1200 full HD and 1.05 color-rendition for around $500, but I'm grateful for it. I would definitely recommend this product, especially considering that comparable monitors by other manufactures are going for around $1500- $2000.

Before anything else, I'd like to express my appreciation of B&H's return/exchange policy. I exchanged a defective PA246Q for the same, another PA246Q.I did a great deal of research, and selected this model over many, most similarly the Dell U2410. The Asus's ergonomics and on-board gamma control greatly influenced my decision. My first PA246Q had severe color issues. Left quadrants had a very green hue, right bottom quadrant was very red, right upper quad was slightly blue with splotchy brightness. The hue problems met straight up the middle of the screen. After two weeks of pointless calibration, I sent it back to B&H for an exchange. My replacement PA246Q has decent, mostly uniform color after 30 to 45 minutes of warm up (and only so long as I don't turn the monitor off for even a moment). Unfortunately, the lower right quadrant has an absurd amount of back light bleed. The bleed is intense throughout 1/8 of the screen and problematic throughout 1/4. It is very well beyond "normal" bleed problems, and effectively obliterates the gray scale throughout that entire 1/4. The bleed occurs at every conceivable head-on (normal) viewing angle. As well, this replacement monitor very quickly developed a stuck red pixel, one I am still attempting to fix.I would also like to add that the first monitor arrived factory sealed, but was not packaged in a way that appeared new. There was a forearm print, sweat, and fingerprints upon the screen. The papers were wrinkled and pinched. The power cord was inside a dusty, scuffed up, very worn plastic baggie. The cord appeared dissimilar to the rest of the components (my suspicion was strengthened by comparing it to the cord that came with the replacement monitor, which was entirely similar to the rest of the components). Other plastic baggies also appeared to have been stressed.I would honestly have sent my replacement PA246Q back, if it weren't vital for me to have an IPS monitor running at the moment. From what I understand it is the same panel, and this panel does produce lovely color. In this price range, with my current perspective, I would perhaps have purchased the revised Dell U2410. Both PA246Q's that I have toiled with are unacceptable. Definitely not quality.

Comments about ASUS PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
I'm into high-end amateur photography. I've been wanting a better photo editing monitor for a while, and the time was right, the price was right, the budget was ready. After I calibrated the monitor, the calibration software showed the gamut - 100% of sRGB, 98% of Adobe RGB! Much better than the other monitor which is now my "system duties" monitor (program icons, start menu, text and surfing). My only gripe is not with the monitor, but with the other software not handling a rotating monitor very well. Might be the photoediting software, the OpenGL, the graphics card, or Win7 - but after I rotate the monitor from or to portrait mode, I have to shut down the editing prg and restart it on the monitor that has the start menu, open the photo over there, then drag it to the Asus monitor. Not a problem with ASUS, but I DO like to edit portrait photos with the monitor in portrait mode. If there is any drawback to the monitor itself is that it is very bright, But I can dial down it's brightness. The startup manual is written in so many languages (31) that one button I needed to find was hard to read: "6 - button: Selects an available input source." It defaults to VGA, and I had the DisplayPort cable in. "No signal" is frustrating way to start. :-)

Kind of took a leap of faith and I am glad I did. Easy to adjust, vivid colors, very clear crisp graphics and text.
Asus includes every cable option you could ever want or need. The wide screen is wonderful coming from a 19" HP.
On the fence? Push the buy button, you will be glad you did.

Monitor came to me with large defective patterns, Plus they put a warranty seal sticker on the bottom of the monitor that one could accidentally pull off. Aside from that,The monitor works great and seems accurate. But with this big pricetag, getting this with defects and a warranty sticker that is easy to accidently peel off, doesn't exactly make one happy.

I bought this monitor for wide gamut (aRGB) color accuracy and consistency in digital photo post processing from camera to monitor to printer. It does an excellent job of displaying the aRGB color space, nearly at 100%. Excellent results after calibration with the Datacolor Spyder 4 Pro. I like the capability of toggling through preset color space options on the fly when switching from photo editing to office suite applications and movies. Build quality is very good. All in all this is an outstanding value for the price point.

I've only been using the monitor for a few weeks, but so far I only have praise.
I bought it to replace my Dell WFP2007. I haven't yet calibrated it, but I have used it for a fair amount of gaming and have been quite pleased.
One small touch that surprised and pleased me was that owering the monitor off also powers the USB hub off. This is not the case with my old Dell.

Graphics professional. Was excited to receive the new Asus monitor. The ProArt was a breeze to setup and I was pleased to see that the stand adjusted down to less than 2" from the desk surface, as my layered desk is rather high. The color looks good right out of the box. Also pleased to have the higher resolution, therefore larger desktop work space. Good value. However, the screen is quite bright which throws off the depth of black perception, so as some reviewers noted, it could benefit from calibration.

I looked at many IPS monitors, but I just couldn't justify spending $600-1000. But standard TN monitors, besides being sleek and inexpensive, have too little viewing angle. Once I discovered that my wife's iMac looks so good, in part because of it IPS monitor, I was sold. This ASUS PA246Q, is stunning and affordable at [$]. If you are reading this because you have discovered the beauty of IPS monitors, you won't be sorry that you bought this one. Plug and Play all the way with my Windows XP system. 1200x1920 resolution give extra screen area from the standard HD of 1080x1920.

One amazing monitor. Kinda big coming from a little crt but I think I'll get used to it after a while. Colors are spot on out of the box. Xbox works perfectly with HDMI. Has option to display 1:1 or stretch to fit the whole screen. No noticeable lag too. No noises with brightness adjustment and no dead/stuck pixels were on mine. The box it comes in is huge though, so clear up some room to open it.

The specs for the money can't be beat. Did some research and it was the closest monitor I could find, within my budget, that displays Adobe RGB or at least 98% of the colors. My wife is very happy with the monitor and she uses it for editing RAW images captured on an Nikon D700 and edited on a MacBook Air using PhotoShop CS 5.

The Asus PA246Q monitor offers many different connectivity options. The monitor is well-built. It's positioning and viewing angles can be easily adjusted, making viewing ergonomics very pleasant. After some basic simple adjustments, the monitor's output looks terrific. The user manual that comes on a CD with it is somewhat incomplete. However, the monitor is not difficult to adjust or set up. The extra screen real estate of its 1920x1200 display, compared to the more common 1080 tall displays is a real plus in viewing functionality.

Comments about ASUS PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
Bought the PA246Q monitor for editing photography based on its ability to produce most of Adobe RGB. Compared side by side to my cheaper model, the Asus does perform very well. It is huge compared to my previous 22 inch monitor. The PA246Q's build is high quality. I like the ease of adjusting the screen, which can even be placed at 90 degrees. It comes with presets, such as Adobe RGB. However, I still calibrated it with Spyder3. The presets were too bright and too strong in contrast. I ended up selecting a User setting, putting brightness down to about 20 and the contrast to 50, then calibrated it with Spyder3 to get best results. However, Spyder3 shows that the monitor does cover most of the Adobe RGB range.
I think the monitor is an excellent choice for those working on professional levels of photography or digital art. The monitor also comes with a card reader located on its side. My only complaint is that the card reader does not read CF cards. Because my camera uses CF cards, that feature is unavailable to me. Still, the monitor provides a beautiful image for digital art.

The main reason I purchased this monitor was for editing pictures. Photography is my hobby and I don't make money taking photographs. This being said monitor does great job for my needs. It is bright, colors are amazing compared to my old display. I also like how easy it can be adjusted to fit on someones desktop.
Are there better LCD displays out there, defiantly but they cost much more. This is excellent display for the money.

Comments about ASUS PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Computer Display:
I edit a lot of photographs and rely on my monitor to produce accurate results. The unit out of the box is definitely too bright, so I rely on my colormunki to calibrate the PA246Q to achieve an accurate brightness level, while also correcting any color discrepancies.
The monitor has no defective pixels, nor any light leak from the sides. I know this has been a concern, and I may have been lucky to receive the perfect one.
This monitor will not be used for any other purpose, so I cannot rate how well it performs other tasks. If you want to edit photographs, accurately, this monitor is doing an excellent job, but you must calibrate it if you want to come as close to perfection as possible.
For the money, the PA246Q is a bargain.

This is a great monitor with many professional features! I haven't even installed the software because it works fine plug-and-play. After ordering one of these for my office, I liked it and ordered a second. Two complaints: the thing is ugly looking, and I have found one pixel that is permanently cyan on one of the monitors. That is certainly frustrating but also barely noticeable.
