Wimberley WH-200-S Sidemount Wimberley Head
The Wimberley WH-200-S Sidemount Wimberley Head is a lighter, more compact alternative to the full Wimberley Gimbal Head. The Sidemount Wimberley head shares the main casting and pan and tilt mechanisms with the Wimberley Head, but a side-mounted Arca-Swiss-style quick release clamp replaces the other model's swing arm & adjustable platform.
The design of the Sidemount Wimberley head allows you to set the center of gravity of the camera/lens over the pan base, for smooth, stable changes to your lens positioning.
Note! The Sidemount Wimberley Head has a built-in Arca-Swiss-style quick release clamp. In order to use the head, your lens must be equipped with an Arca-Swiss-style lens plate. If you use plates from manufacturers other than Wimberley, you will need to make sure that they are the proper length and proportion that Wimberley recommends for your lens. - Ideally suited for lenses similar in size to a 300mm f/2.8 or 500mm f/4. Larger lenses may require a spacer or a replacement foot for the lens collar (See the Lens Compatibility Guide.)
- The built-in industry-standard Arca-Swiss style quick release clamp makes it compatible with the many different plates available from Arca-Swiss, Acratech, Kirk, Wimberley, Really Right Stuff, Foba, etc.
- Works with Wimberley F-9 Sidekick Bracket (not included) for positioning a flash above the lens

I use my Canon 7D / 100-400mm lens for nature photography, almost exclusively birds. I recently asked myself,"Why am I struggling with the ball head I was using." The jerking action of fine adjustments was driving me nuts. When I received the Sidemount Wimberley Head I was extremely happy with the simple assembly. When I got into the field...oh my, why did o wait so long to get this!? The ease of use; fluid movement and the simplicity of fine adjustments exceeded my expectation! When I read reviews on this product on reviewer cautioned to make sure you use the stops on the lens mount AND make sure you tighten the Swiss mount. I agree on both precautions to enjoy your day out :)
