This B&W 39mm 090 Light Red Glass Filter is the classic filter for strong contrast in black and white and architectural photography. The white sides of buildings shine brightly; skies are darkened dramatically and clouds become more impressive. It is also excellent for spectacular landscape photographs that will be characterized by greatly improved vistas.

Comments about B+W 39mm 090 Light Red Glass Filter:
I have a Leica M3 with a 50/2 Summicron DR and a 35/3.5 Summaron. Rather than use older Leitz filters, I chose to use the B+W filters because of their reputation for good glass and solid build.
I wasn't disappointed. They are built like a tank with a good brass ring. They screwed onto the E39 thread of my Summicron with ease and stayed put (don't over-tighten!). I didn't purchase the MRC product, but I'm happy with regular coating. The light red filter is a fairly basic filter if you want to get into B&W photography as it gives contrasts to skies and clouds. Your blue skies will appear quite dark next to the clouds.
All in all, good choice!
