I use this to back up and store large quantities of photographs. I've found it especially useful to manage gigantic TIF files between the processes of scanning, color correcting, retouching and printing, many of which involve using separate computers. So far, it is the best hard drive I've had - it works fast and quietly, has yet to overheat, is very portable, and sturdy. I wish it had a sort of protective case, though, especially for all the different cables I need with it.

After a 2 week flawless honeymoon, this drive began clicking, then wouldn't mount >>> DEAD. Fortunately, B&H refunded my money and the return process was easy. I'm not real enthusiastic about re-ordering another. I guess this can happen to any drive. I'm just telling my experience.

Comments about G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile FireWire / USB 2.0 Hard Drive - 750GB (Silver):
I made the mistake of buying a Western Digital hard drive that worked for just about 53 weeks before crashing. Of course it only has a 1 year warranty. This G-Drive is fast, solid and compact. I love everything about it. Lesson learned, it's worth spending a few more dollars for a quality hard drive.

Works seamlessly with my MacBook Pro. I plugged it in and it did what it was supposed to do. Wow! How often can you say that about a product.

We used this product as a secondary backup for media files (video, photos, original designs, etc.) and it has proved very useful. It is lightweight, easy to set-up, and looks great.

Comments about G-Technology G-DRIVE mobile FireWire / USB 2.0 Hard Drive - 750GB (Silver):
A great solution, just like other G-Tech products I have owned. Solid construction, the right connections (FW800 x2, USB), and ample storage. The controller allows for fast transfer speeds even if the drive is 5400 rpm. It's quiet, too.
The silver finish matches the MBP with anti-glare display...a nice touch.
I think the price is reasonable given the drive quality, housing construction, connections and controller.
Recommended.

Needed an external for music storage, perfect. Small enough to take with if needed, fast enough for iTunes & Macbook Pro to play music seamlessly. Just moved iMedia to the external & redirected iTunes to look there and was good to go. Also seems to back up just fine to my time capsule via time machine. So far so good!
