Its remote data access feature allows you to access your data when you are away from home -- all you need is an Internet connection. You can also invite friends and family to view specific files or folders stored on the drive -- a great way for you to share family snapshots and vacation photos with relatives who think that Twitter is a little yellow cartoon bird who is constantly harassed by "puddy tats."
When you are at home, you'll be happy to know that the drive can stream multimedia files to UPnP/DLNA devices. This includes game consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Apple TV owners will be happy to know that the device has a built-in iTunes server. The Home Media drive also has a built-in BitTorrent downloader, which can grab files from the Internet -- even when your computer is off.
If you are in need of a network backup solution, it should comes as no surprise that this Swiss Army knife of a drive does that too. It can backup all of the computers n your network, and is also compatible with online backup services like Mozy Pro and Amazon S3. Mac users will be able to perform network backups to the drive via Time Machine.
Photographers will be able to download photos from a digital camera to the drive via USB. You can also set the drive to downsize and watermark your photos, perfect for those who wish to share their work online -- but don't want to see it stolen and reproduced without permission. The USB port can also be used to connect an external hard drive -- giving you more room to store files -- or to connect a printer -- making it easy to print from any computer in your network.

Comments about Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
The home media network hard drive works as intended to be and I have no issues with the drive. Speed is right for me. Features like automatic uploading pictures to facebook and youtube was welcome and the torrent download feature makes it reasonably complete. The drive is compact and for a single volume NAS it has some amazing features. There is no way the drive can be expanded and hence I decided to get the maximum in this category, a 3TB drive which is more than enough for my media content. I have connected a USB printer to the NAS and use it as a host printer. The fan located at the rear ensures that excess heat radiated is ventilated. I highly appreciate and recommend this drive.

It not been a long time since I own the Home Media Network Hard Drive and I am happy with the NAS. The device has a large 3TB backup and I have connected three laptops and a PC to the NAS. Comments about Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
The biggest plus of Iomega home media hard drive is not just its big 3TB storage space but the option to remotely link two plus NAS drives. Once this remote link up is done I was able to backup my data onto a NAS device placed at a different location. With this my data is safe as my disaster recovery plan is intact.
Being an average home user I found that setting up the device was a challenge but following the simple instructions I was able to install the NAS device without any major confrontation. Once the device was up and running I found that the performance exceeded my expectations.
Comments about Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
The home media network hard drive is most attractive looking NAS device I have ever seen. The black brush metal look is really appealing. The slim body does not occupy much of space. The device comes with a stand using which I was able to position the network hard drive vertically. You can hardly hear any noise from the device as it is a fan-less design. The most attractive feature of the home media network hard drive is the cloud edition. Setting up the cloud was easy and I was able to copy large files with ease.
The web management interface is organized and is user friendly. In one window pane I was able to view links to all controls. One most interesting feature is that the interface allows me to search for controls using keyword.
Comments about Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
I purchased Iomega home media network hard drive with cloud edition for my home use. My main usage was to download TV shows that I used to stream later on my macbook. I found the device easy to setup and to use as well, until I encountered a problem, my AT&T UVerse router. It did not respond to the command from Iomega home media network device and had to be manually configured for port forwarding.
I was stuck and did not know what to do, it was at this point that I called up Iomega technical support and they were helpful in guiding me through the process. I followed their instructions and my problem was solved. I realized it was network issues as my connectivity suffers because of this. I got it set right and everything worked fine.

I would call the Iomega home media network hard drive a blend of variety and diversity for the simple reason that it promises a whole lot of features apart from advanced online connectivity. The drive comes with a huge 3TB space big enough to hold bulk data. My eyes fell on the Iomega home media drive for just one reason it was Mac and PC compatible. I know Iomega has a good support team that can offer the best of services on time which came true when I called up Iomega team for setting up my personal cloud. The support team was able to redress my grievance at once.
Whether it is port forwarding error that appeared while setting up the cloud of the compatibility issue with OS X Lion Iomega was there to guide me.
Comments about Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
One thing I learnt while trying to setup my Iomega home media network hard drive is to have some basic IT expertise to confront the error messages boldly. For instance I kept receiving the port forwarding error on my NAS drive while trying to share it on my network. I normally feel uncomfortable with such cryptic messages and immediately called Iomega technical support. They asked me to log in as administration on my router and determine the ports that were need for the NAS drive.
Once this was over I was asked to forward specific ports request. I completed the process with the able guidance of the support staff and I was able to share my drive on my network. Glad to have called Iomega support, they saved my day.
Comments about Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
I know that not all home users opt for Home Media Network Hard drive unless you are thinking of more than just storage. I am a software professional and the need for NAS device was felt very early in my earlier. So I decided on getting a huge 3TB Home Media Network Hardware launched by Iomega. I have a printer that needed to be connected to the NAS drive to take prints. Though the printer can be easily connected to the NAS device using the USB port, I experienced some hitches.
I was using 10.5 Leopard and wanted to connect a printer to my NAS drive and encountered some issues. Then I called up Iomega support and they asked me to open Print & Fax system preference. They then asked me to click on the Line Printer Daemon LPD that was located in the protocol list and then add the IP address of the home media drive, then as instructed I added the printer by clicking on the add button and the process was complete. Thanks Iomega for such great support.

Iomega 3TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition was the first thought that came to my mind when it thought of buying a media network hard drive. It is an absolute fit for my home needs.
