Comments about Sima SL-100LX Pro LED Camcorder Light:
This is definitely a nice little addition to have in my pelican while shooting wedding photography. I use this to create some really unique lighting for all the details such as the rings, flowers, and just about any other type of jewellery or items of the day. I use two of these, off camera of course, to create a professional looking lighting setup for the details.
The SL-100LX is also great because it offers the option to dim or brighten the light. The only negative thing I would say about this proudct is that I wish it came in a lower kelvin as it does produce more of an orange light then it does as a true white, which is not difficult to fix in post, but a little bit of a hassle as it limits how close I can shoot by the window without having to labour a little in photoshop.
Considering how affordable it is, I think you would be crazy to not have a few of these in your kit!

Comments about Sima SL-100LX Pro LED Camcorder Light:
I was suspecting that it will be not so strong, even though reviewers have not bothered even share approximate usable distance of this light. It is no more than 10'. And actually, I needed small continuos light in natural spectrum to compliment my Sony A55 DSLR for photo / HD video in limited lighting conditions.
Flash could be way to strong on shorter distances, and having dimmable function of this light is VERY helpful, if not the most important feature of this device!
Well, LED light is pretty focused, as you can expect, and again, it is great to have chance to adjust amount of light. It helps a lot in creation good artistic photos and video clips.
I probably would not use it in complete darkness, sure, you can do that, but I'm not doing this kind of shooting...
Well, I can recommend this thing for short 6-10' distances - to supplement existing light and fight shadows..

Comments about Sima SL-100LX Pro LED Camcorder Light:
I am using this light with my camcorder for occasional low light situations like home videos, pics of the grandkids, family parties. My main concern is for low but not dark situations as in rooms in evenings, adding a little extra lighting to reduced shadowing etc. It just works as described: lightweight, compact and a LiIon battery built in. It is great for a basic camcorder or compact camera that is shooting video as long as you have a standard shoe mount or you can use the supplied bracket that attaches to the tripod mount.
It may need additional units depending on the light level so if you are into serious video you would probably go for a high end LED lighting unit. Units are designed to stack together indefinitely though the weight/size would become a nuisance if you had more than about 4 I suspect.
