The B+W 72mm #29 Dark Red (091) Filter is a basic contrast filter, primarily for use with black and white film. This dark red filter dramatically darkens skies, cuts through haze, and increases overall contrast. When compared to the red #25 filter, the #29 produces even darker, black skies and a more surreal contrast between foliage, clouds, and sky. There is an 8x filter factor with this filter, requiring an increase of 3 stops for normal exposure.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Comments about B+W 72mm #29 Dark Red (091) Filter:
I bought this filter to attach to my variable zoom field lens that I use with a Nikon FM2. Using Kodak Tri-X and T-Max B&W films, this filter produces deep contrast between sky and ground in outdoor shots on clear days, and also helps bring out reds that would otherwise look dark gray or almost black on B&W prints. Definitely a wonderful way to bring out more with sky and clouds in B&W landscapy shots. The only drawback is that because the filter is so dark, shutter speeds/f-stops must be reduced at least 2-3 speeds/stops to compensate for the reduction of light coming through the lens.
