Cool-Lux MD-5150 Scissor-Clamp (T-Bar) Light Mount with 5/8" Stud
The MD-5150 is specifically designed for clamping to the "T" bar in a suspended ceiling. It features a mount that secures itself on the cross section of a suspended ceiling and offers a 5/8" stud to attach to the light housing. With a few MD-5150's and Mini Cools the user can turn any room with a suspended ceiling into a location studio.

This is not intended to be used to hang hot objects inches from the drop ceiling. The attachment on this is useful for MANY different types of clamps and such that allow you to lower objects from the ceiling to an acceptable height. I would always hang lights away from the ceiling. Blaming the product for bad planning is useless.
I own several of these and have used them all to great advantage.

I used this clamp to hold a 250 W Mini Cool with soft box. The lamp causes excessive heat when so close to the ceiling and can cause plastic knobs and studs to melt and/or catch fire.
