The VAIO Z Series VPCZ216GX 13.1" Notebook Computer (Carbon Fiber Black) is a compact notebook computer with enough power to handle demanding multimedia applications and your everyday business needs. This extremely lightweight system weighs no greater than 2.57 pounds and is 0.66" thick. It features a 13.1" LCD display with a LED backlight, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Because this computer is designed to be compact, portable, and energy-efficient while you travel, it does not house a dedicated graphics card or a built-in optical drive. Rather, Sony has designed and included their "Power Media Dock", which houses both and includes a number of different ports for connecting external devices. The Power Media Dock features a Blu-ray disc player and an AMD Radeon HD 6650M Graphics Processor with 1GB of VDRAM. This GPU allows your computer to handle more demanding HD video and games. The dock also includes one HDMI port, one VGA port, two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, one Gigabit Ethernet Port, and one customized Port Replicator connector for plugging the dock into the notebook.
For connecting to the Internet, the notebook supports dual-band 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi and has a Gigabit Ethernet port. It can also connect with Bluetooth devices wirelessly, as it supports the Bluetooth 2.1+EDR standard. Using the computer is comfortable too, as it features a multi-gesture touchpad. The VAIO Z2 also sports a webcam, integrated microphone, and memory card reader.
For those times when you'd like to watch content on a larger screen, the VAIO supports Intel's Wireless Display technology, which allows you to connect to an HDTV wirelessly. You'll need the optional Netgear Push2TV accessory to utilize this technology. An HDMI output is available for wired HDTV connectivity.
The computer is powered by a dual-core 2.7GHz Intel Core i7-2620M CPU, which can be overclocked to 3.4GHz thanks to Intel Turbo Boost. It is loaded with 4GB of RAM, 256GB of solid state storage, and integrated Intel GMA HD 3000 graphics, when you aren't using the AMD GPU with the Power Media Dock. Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit) with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) is the installed operating system.

- Leveraging the latest innovations in Lithium polymer technology, the battery is integrated into the PC and conforms to the contours of the chassis. It offers a thinner battery profile while still supplying up to 6 hours of battery life, if the screen is set to the maximum brightness. If the screen is set to the default brightness setting, it can last up to 7 hours. You can also purchase an optional extend battery that attaches directly to the standard capacity battery. With it, you'll enjoy up to 16 hours of total combined battery life.

- The Z Series incorporates the Power Media Dock. The Power Media Dock is a performance factory delivering the horsepower your day demands through one unique and familiar port. Featuring a powerful AMD Radeon HDd 6650M graphics card with 1GB VRAM, you'll experience premium visual quality and intense HD performance without placing huge demands on your CPU. The Power Media Dock includes a slot loading Blu-ray Disc drive, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, a VGA port, and two USB 2.0 ports. Paired together, the notebook transforms into the ultimate workstation and can even support up to 4 Full HD displays. It connects to your notebook via a custom designed connector.

- The notebook is 2.6 lb and is 0.66" thick, making it very easy to slip in a bag and carry. Simply detach the notebook from the Power Media Dock and go. - Secure Your Identity
- Symantec VIP is a powerful, additional layer of security that links your PC to the online account, VPN, or application that you select, decreasing the ability of thieves to access your accounts and information from another PC. Created jointly by Intel and Symantec, and available through select member websites, VIP ensures that only you can access your online accounts and websites. When you log into any of the hundreds of VIP member websites, you're asked to provide a one-time password that's automatically generated by Intel Identity Protection Technology. Since the password is random, and you get a new one each time you visit, it's virtually impossible for cybercriminals to hijack your online identity. Because the identity protection technology is built into this PC's processor, there's no extra hardware to buy and no tokens or other "credentials" to lug around, forget, or lose.

- The 2nd generation Intel Core i7 processor features a speed of 2.70GHz and can operate at a speed of up to 3.40GHz. It is an excellent processor for multitasking between programs and for handling the demands of HD video.
