I'm new to video recording and editing. I started out with another software program that came on my PC. While I was able to make recordings to post for a website I found the images were not as clear as I would have liked for them to be. I found Vegas Studio 11 on B&H's site (on sale!) and have been very happy with my purchase. The images have been considerably clearer on my recordings and it offers far more editing options than the program I had used before. It's very user friendly, even for newbies like myself. :) Definitely recommend it.

As a professional, I've been a user of Vegas Movie Studio for years. Sony Vegas is a cheaper alternative to some of the bigger, more expensive video editing packages out there such as Premier or Final Cut but this does not mean it doesn't create professional results. Sony Vegas comes in several flavors ranging from basic to professional.

I've used Sony Vegas to produce TV commercials, DVD's and web videos for commercial clients for years. The overall quality is excellent. Additionally, for TV commercials, DVD, and web production, I have found that Sony Vegas Platinum Production Suite provides all the tools I need for my work. For me, Sony Vegas Professional is overkill. If I was more into movie or television show production, the professional version would provide additional features that would be more critical to what I would need, however, for my line of work, this versions works well and rarely have I run into a limitation.

Sony Vegas is much easier to use then Premier or Final Cut and Sony also allows you to work in real time not having to wait for video to render before previewing. Some features do have a bit of a learning curve but they are easily learned.

The only limitation I have found is Sony's title / text rendering. For those who need a completely flexible editor for creating titles and title animations, you will want to pickup Adobe After Effects which has pretty much unlimited text/title control. For everyday use and most of the titles seen in tv commercials Sony Vegas provides all the controls you will need, but if you need custom or more advanced titles or animation, you will need to generate them externally.

One thing to note, Sony's box design is a bit confusing for the Platinum Production Suite. When I upgraded to version 11, the box arrived with the words "Sony Vegas Platinum" in large print and the words "Production Suite" in small words in the top corner. It lead me to believe I ordered the wrong product at first. Not a big deal and the folks at B&H helped sort it out but Sony should make "Production Suite" a bit more noticeable on the box.

I haven't used many other video software programs so I don't have a lot to compare to, but I think this is a great program with an attractive price tag. I'm still learning some more specific options/features, but it's quite easy to pick up and run with it. There is a good built-in how-to feature and you can find other good help/resources on the internet. Would highly recommend to someone starting out.

I bought this to use with my JVC Everio HD camcorder. I was disappointed to learn that the software included with the camera would not burn a bluray disc. Apparently you have to buy a more expensive camcorder to get that feature. At any rate, I burned a bluray with this software after a couple of hours of learning the program, and it plays on my player perfectly. I also want to thank Sony for providing a full featured trial version- no watermarks or reduced functionality that I could find- it's one of the reasons I bought the software package.

I am a Boomer. I did not grow up with computers. The thought of video editing software made me cringe. I have not been much of a camera buff, and only bought a videocam a year or two ago (and hadnt used it much). And though I know a good deal about audio (being a musician/songwriter), I wanted to get some of my songs with a video production, to promote online. So I wanted ease of use and good quality (dont ask for much, do I). Talked with B&H, and they steered me to this product (it has a tutorial DVD for one thing). And they were right. Good tutorial, and there are good "inside" instructions within the software as you go. I was splicing, dicing, and cross-fading in no time. Fine product, and great guidance as usual from B&H.

I started editing with Adobe Premiere back in the late 90's, and I had to learn by trial and error. It was 2 years ago that a colleague told me about Vegas. I bought the 9th version, and I haven't gone back since. Now with this wonderful bundle, you are in for fun and enjoyment in creating the best video of your life. Regardless if you are a beginner or an expert, there's nothing better than Vegas. It's very easy to use, it doesn't take that much memory from your hard drive, and the "final cut" is excellent.

I did a lot of online research for the best editor to fit the beginner and an, thus far, very satisfied. Simple to use. My first editing included many different fades, a variety of titles as well as moving pieces of actual video around for a better sequence. I purchased the Production Suite because I have a lot of vinyl records to digitize and incorporate; the Sound Forge Audio Studio is also very simple to do editing, including deleting skips. Not really satisfied with the vinyl record fixup so far though.
