The ENVY 14-2070nr 14.5" Notebook Computer from Hewlett-Packard is a thin and light 14.5" notebook computer, designed with energy-efficient operation, performance, and style in mind. The computer features an 8-cell battery for extended cord-free operation.
Weighing only 5.5 pounds and measuring only slightly more than an inch thick when closed, the computer delivers dual-core performance without weighing you down. It is housed in an aluminum casing for enhanced durability. The Envy's aesthetics are enhanced via the soft surfaces that are threaded throughout its body.
The system includes a suite of multimedia applications by CyberLink. It is also bundled with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements which give you all the tools you'll need to edit photos and video.
Sound is provided by the Beats audio system, which has been tuned by audio engineers to produce some of the finest audio possible in a notebook PC. HP recommends Beats Studio Headphones by Dr. Dre for the finest listening experience.
For those times when you'd like to watch content on a larger screen, the ENVY supports Intel's Wireless Display technology, which allows you to connect to an HDTV wirelessly. You'll need the optional Netgear Push2TV accessory to utilize this technology. For wired connectivity to an HDTV, the notebook features an HDMI output.
The system's 14.5" display features a LED backlight for superior image quality and reduced energy consumption. The display features a 1366 x 768 native resolution that is fully capable of displaying 720p HD video. The integrated webcam -- located in the top bezel of the display -- allows you to chat online.
The system is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-2410M CPU, which can be overclocked to 2.9GHz thanks to Intel Turbo Boost. It boasts 6GB of RAM, a 160GB SSD storage drive, a slot-loading SuperMulti DVD burner, Bluetooth, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, and AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics. Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) is the installed operating system.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ENVY 14-2070nr Beats Edition 14.5" Notebook Computer (Aluminum):
I use this system for a combination of personal and professional (self-employed) uses. I really like the look and feel of this system. I've used both Macs and PCs in the past, have been an IT manager for small companies, and have experienced lots of different systems over the years. The Envy feels as solid and well built as a Mac. The display is sharp and bright, the keyboard feels great. The sound quality coming out of the system speakers is not exceptional. (I had great built-in speakers on another system I owned, but it was a much heavier laptop as well.) Of course, you'll have to deal with Windows if you buy this system, and that's pretty much the only drawback I can identify so far. Fortunately, Windows 7 is a much better OS than its predecessor. Highly recommend this system.

I really like my Envy so far; the speed compared to a HDD is incredible. No other way to run. Only problem I have is all the preset features. I have to wipe my drive because all of the needless accessories that take up the small and precious SSD space.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard ENVY 14-2070nr Beats Edition 14.5" Notebook Computer (Aluminum):
I use the HP Envy 14 predominantly for web surfing and MS office applications and the performance is more than sufficient for this. However, I cannot comment on its performance for gaming use. The notebook is definitely one of the best looking, if not the best looking notebooks available in the market today and has a very original design. Build quality is great and the notebook has a very solid/durable feel about it. The 14.5" screen size not noticeably smaller than for a 15.6" notebook and it is the ideal size in my opinion. The notebook is not the lightest for this size but is not particularly heavy either. The 160gb SSD (actually only about 150gb)is a bit on the lean side especially since nearly 20gb is dedicated and used for HP Recovery Drive so you're left with about 140gb available for use. However, this is the trade off for the better performance you get out of the SSD. This notebook is very good value for money compared to anything I can get in Australian retail stores. In fact, this notebook has not been released in Australia yet but based on previous versions of the HP Envy 14 in retail stores, this would be around the $2k mark or above.
