The Epson Artisan 837 All-In-One Printer prints 9.6 pages per minute in black and 9.1 in color. The small 1.5 picoliter ink drop size and MicroPiezo technology ensure not only fast photo printing but quality to match the photo lab. The printer uses Epson's 6-color Claria Hi-Definition dye-based ink.
In addition to the print, scan, and copy functions offered by the Artisan 730, the Artisan 837 has a 30 page automatic document feeder and the ability to send and receive faxes. The ADF allows you to fax, scan, and copy up to 30 sheets at a time, in one easy step. The smart touch panel makes it easy to operate the printer allowing you to perform functions such as photocopy, print from a memory card, and even crop or reorient photos. Like its predecessors, the Artisan 837 lets you print directly on a CD or DVD; no need to buy an expensive disc printer or spend time attaching a label.
The printer has multiple connectivity options beyond a simple USB connection. Like its predecessor, it has wireless and wired network connectivity. It also has the ability to print directly from an iPhone, iPad, and most smartphones using Epson Connect.

Originally purchased a canon MG6220 (see my review, not Mac friendly). Sent back the canon and bought the 837. Epson has really gotten on board with this printer and interface. Excellent user control from the front panel, iPad, Mac, PC, iPhone, Android, even includes eprint function that is extremely useful. Just send an email to your printer and it prints the contents, whether a photo or text. Excellent print and scan functionality and quality. Setup was a breeze. Beautiful photo printing. I love the wireless functionality. I put my CF card in it and browse and transfer the images on my iPad or Mac. Can't do that on the canon. Highest resolution photo printing for printer in this price point. Also has a document feeder, two-sided printing, excellent control over scanning. Actually a very attractive printer as well. Really no complaints. Love the iPad app and cloud printing. No need to be in the same room with the printer, or the same country for that matter!

I've owned this product for only 6-weeks so my user opinion is qualified accordingly!
I use this product in my home office for printing documents, a few photos (I have another high-end photo printer for this purpose), scanning, copying and faxing. I love the user-friendly, intuitive layout of the LCD Screen. Print quality, scan and copy quality are great. Setup and use has been easy and trouble-free.
FYI, on the negative side some of the components appear to be a made of a light plastic. I don't think I'd recommend the unit if used in an office where the production level is more demanding or frequent.
That said, for our various needs, the Artisan 837 has been a great addition for our home office needs.

This printer works great. Printing from iPad is finally easy.
Fax is working great and the ADF for scanning is super as well.
Text recognition isn't great unfortunately so I have to scan to B&W PDF and that increases the file size by 500% (30kb text recognition file becomes 150kb B&W file).
I wished the advertised photo tray was for regular size paper or envelopes. Apparently it only handles up to 5x7 paper.
Everything else was good and setup easy.

Amazingly easy hookup and configuration. No problems faxing over Vonage (VOIP) - an older HP all-in-one wouldn't fax properly. The only thing holding it back from 5 stars is that the black printing on plain paper is not as dark as I would like.

After about 6 years my HP 6100 All-In-One couldn't be revived again. My wife has a Canon MP882 and I was planning to buy a Canon also until I found this machine. I am a photographer and have the Epson Stylus 2200 and the Pro 4000 and I love them both but I wasn't looking for a photo printer. I needed a robust printer with excellent scanning quality.
It looks great sitting on the corner of my desk. I like that the ADF has a folding door to protect from dust when it isn't in use. Set up was quick and easy. I connected via USB to my main computer and connected to my laptop, iPad and DroidX via WiFi with no problem.
The unit starts up quickly and is much quieter than my HP. Print speed is fast for documents and I like the automatic duplex mode for printing on both sides of the page.
The bonus was the quality of the photo prints. I have started using the 837 for proofs. The photo print speed is incredible especially compared to the 2200 and 4000.

Scanner is crip and clear, Wireless is fantastic, the quality of prints are beautiful. The copier is able to print on both sides of the paper= pretty slick.
I was amazed at the quality of the print job this Atrisan 837 does on CD's. I printed off 30 of these in full color, using the software that came with the program, and they look professional. It hardly used any ink for these. The ink lasts a long time. Don't be shy of the slightly higher price for the printer, the quailty is there, and it doesn't go through ink like crazy.
