The Trendnet 56 K USB Phone/Internet/Fax Modem connects computers to the Internet using a dial up telephone connection. This compact modem provides advanced communications functionality, compatibility with Windows and Linux operating systems, and compliance with many dial up Internet Service Provider networks. Only 1 phone line is required for both Internet access and telephone calls, since the NetWaiting feature screens incoming telephone calls while online and maintains an Internet connection when calls are answered. The modem is powered by the connected computer's USB port--no external power source is needed. Software features include a programmable telephone book with speed dial entries, a fax utility supporting scheduled and group faxes, and transmission and reception logbooks that record all activities.

Comments about Trendnet 56 K USB Phone/Internet/Fax Modem:
Three potential functions for the modem:
1. Dial phone from a list on the computer.
2. Send and receive a fax from the computer.
3. Internet browsing.
My prime interest was only the first item.
Physical installation was easy but identifying, loading and using the appropriate software took at least a week, during which I tinkered while awaiting a response from the web-based help line.
I'm still waiting.
I've just sucessfully placed a call but doubt that I'll ever learn how to use any of the other advertised capabilities.
Although the price is reasonable, expect to pay for expert help before successfully using it.

Comments about Trendnet 56 K USB Phone/Internet/Fax Modem:
While similar and cheaper products exist, chose this unit because of Mfg's 3-Yr warranty vs. 1-Yr by others. Easy install with no hassles and no drivers required in a MS Windows 7 operating environment. Delighted with its immediate use.
Shipment - Tracked product arrived one day sooner than originally expected.
Vendor experience: no complaints whatsoever.

Comments about Trendnet 56 K USB Phone/Internet/Fax Modem:
My parents live in a very rural area and decided that they wanted to finally enjoy the internet although they could only get dial-up. They bought a brand new computer which, as can be expected, did not have a jack for a telephone line. as a loyal customer to B&H I looked here first and found the Trendnet 56k modem that would allow them to get on the internet via dial-up It has worked great for them thus far and I am very pleased yet again with my service at B&H!
