The Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System from Logitech is designed to deliver theater-quality surround sound for your movies, games, and music. It features one subwoofer, four satellites, and one center speaker. In total, the system pushes 500W of power, with 165W being delivered through the bass-pumping subwoofer and 67W through each of the other speakers. This system is THX-certified and can decode both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS encoded soundtracks when you're using the speaker system to play DVDs.
In total, this speaker system can connect up to six audio sources, including your TV, Blu-ray/DVD player, DVR, Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii, iPod, computer, and more. Even if some of these devices only support two channel sound, the speaker system can produce a 360° surround sound that's immersive and tonally balanced. To get the most from your speakers, though, your computer or device should have a sound card that supports the full 5.1 Surround Sound. All told, the speaker system has two digital optical jacks, one digital coaxial jack, two RCA jacks, and three 3.5mm jacks for 6-channel direct analog sound. For managing your sound, the speaker system comes with a stackable console as well as an infrared remote.

Comments about Logitech Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System:
I purchased the Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system recently and I have so far been very impressed by this set up. I basically needed a speaker system to interface between my computer and my new LG 55LW5600 TV. Although the LG has great picture quality the internal speakers, in my opinion leave a lot to be desired as they sound very thin, weak and "flat" to me. Well I must say that so far I am very pleased with the sound of my new Logitech surround system and it makes a huge difference in the viewing/listening experience.
Setting up the system was a breeze, all the speaker connections attach to the back of the sub-woofer cabinet by spring loaded terminals that I find much more preferable to rca plugs. The nice thing about using standard speaker wire for this purpose is that it makes extra long speaker runs easy. If the included speaker wire is not long enough you can always pick-up a few extra feet if necessary and attach to the supplied speaker cable with wire nuts.
All of the speakers sound very clear and well defined. The wireless remote, though small and very light, seems to work well. There are many useful optional settings that are adjustable on the control console, including various 3D, 2.1 and 4.1 simulated surround effects when using a stereo source. You can also set separate levels for the sub, center and rear speakers which to me is a great option. The input options of the system allows you to connect just about anything you want including standard computer speaker inputs,an optical feed from two different DVD players, digital coaxial input, stereo input (for maybe a tape deck, camcorder, game console, etc.) there is even a headphone and aux input on the side of the console. The only thing I would have added from my own wish list would have been a nice LCD display to show the various functions but I am sure that would have added to the cost, besides the front panel of the control console has plenty of amber colored lights for that purpose.
Finally, I must say that I will seldom have this system cranked up very often because I don't want to get evicted from my apartment, as this thing can get very LOUD!
Overall a great sounding, compact surround 5.1 speaker system, that provides a lot of bang for the buck. Highly recommended!

Comments about Logitech Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System:
I will not compare it to the now discontinued Logitech Z-5500 system as so many other reviewers have. It sounds VERY GOOD for a system in this price range. The Console, as Logitech calls it, is not pretty. Replacing all of the AMBER LEDs with BLUE ones would help the appearance alot. At least, it would match the new DIRECTV HD receivers that look really good. The remote control is flimsy and can be easily broken while installing the batteries! B&H shipped it immediately and it was well packed. Shipping was FREE.

Comments about Logitech Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System:
I travel often and the sound to weight ratio is the best I've found to date.
I've used it with Desktops, Laptops, Hotel TV's & Stereos, Smartphones and Pioneer's DDJ-S1.
The sound quality...bass included...is excellent for such a light weight system.
I'd recommend a High Quality micro-pin plug of greater length for those who travel or move it often.
A USB interface for greater flexibility is all that's missing.

I use this system for my desktop PC. It provides top quality sound at any volume level. Comes REAL close to matching the performance of a famous name brand that I paid twice as much for and use on my big screen in a different room. Simply put, I am TOTALLY pleased and satisfied with my purchase!!

Comments about Logitech Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System:
Received system from B&H within several days of ordering and well ahead of promised time for delivery. The Z906 completely meets my needs and expectations. I have my computer, a 42 inch television and a DVD hooked up to the system. I accidentally ruined one of my speakers (don't ask) and Logitech replaced it free of charge. My cable TV remotes didn't control the consul so even though a remote is provided (I use that one when at the computer) I had to buy two Logitech remotes so my wife and I wouldn't have to get up from our chairs to control the sound system while watching TV.
