The BD-D5100 Blu-ray Disc Player from Samsung offers support for HD 1080p resolution, 256 MB flash memory, network connectivity with streaming platforms YouTube and Netflix, as well as Blu-ray disc movie extras with BD Live.
When you connect the BD-D5100 to your home internet connection, you can access a slew of additional online content as well as BD Live, which transforms passive viewing into the ultimate interactive movie experience by accessing bonus features related to the movie via the internet. This can include featurettes, filmmaker chats, trailers, quizzes, and more. It also features the BONUSVIEW function that shows two sources simultaneously. So for example, you could watch film commentary in a smaller window while your movie is playing.
We all know there's more to a good movie than the video -- you need high definition sound as well. This disc player supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, lossless Dolby TrueHD, and DTS audio processing for a wider, more enveloping surround sound experience whether you have a surround sound setup or just two speakers.
Ease of use is important too -- and the BD-D5100 offers several features for seamless integration into your home theater setup. BD Wise automatically optimizes resolution on compatible TVs while AllShare allows you to stream content to your TV from DNLA equipped devices like a PC or even a phone. Its compatibility with a myriad of video and audio formats ensures a huge amount of entertainment choices. What's more, this disc player's slim chassis and stylish glossy finish is sure to complement any room you put it in.

Comments about Samsung BD-D5100 Blu-ray Disc Player:
This unit arrived well packed, undamaged and delived on the date promised. Setup was very easy with HDMI cable to my SONY HTCT150 3.1 Sound Bar. The picure is excellent and the compatability with multiple formats is a plus. I don't use the internet connection for streaming however, I'm glad the connection is available in case I need to update the bios at some point in time. Great value for the money and has everything I was looking for in a base Blue-ray player.

This blu ray player was purchased as a gift. I ordered it online on a Sun night and it was delivered the Wed following! My daughter hooked it up with no trouble and is now enjoying it. A Samsung was purchased because she had a Samsung HDTV and I wanted to keep it the same. Great experience with B&H and I'll be sure to order again from their company.

Home use when the grandkids come and we watch C Ds. We have a new Samsung T V, and love it. STEVE at your office was a great help in providing great advise about the Blu-ray made by Samsung. The manual needs to have larger print. Thanks and please tell STEVE thank you. Later Derrel Musgrove

Comments about Samsung BD-D5100 Blu-ray Disc Player:
Pros:
-Good value! Solid DVD\BluRay\streaming player for a good price.
-DVD upconversion is very smooth. No distortion, pixelation or lagging.
-HDMI connection reduces the number of cables dangling out of your TV.
-Sleek looks.
-Connected to home network without issues.
Cons:
-Turns on/off very slowly. (>20sec)
-Clumsy rewind/ffwd function. You're lucky to land within 30sec of the scene you want. It's bad with DVDs and abysmal with streaming.
-The RC looks like it belongs to a VCR you bought at a drug store. It functions OK, but looks and feels very cheap.
-No resume play. You eject a DVD during play (say, to clean it) and it's back to title 1 \ chapter 1.
-Limited / lame streaming features. I could use Pandora or Hulu instead of Youtube!
-Iffy support. Netflix device activation failed out of the box. Netflix and Samsung support blamed each other, of course. Mysteriously, after 10 days, it worked.
-Firmware update still doesn't work. (Error: product model not recognized)
