The Sony Alpha NEX-C3 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens gives you the versatility of a larger SLR digital camera but in a compact, light weight form-factor. Perfect for traveling, parties, or any time you don't want to carry a bulky camera around your neck, the NEX-C3 is a styling piece with enticing lines and an understated, yet modern design. But it's not just appealing in the looks department, the NEX-C3 backs up that enticing style with an 16.2Mp sensor and a BIONZ image processor that enable RAW image capture and a 3.0" LCD screen with TruBlack technology.
Perhaps most notable though, is the NEX-C3's ability to interchange lenses. The camera comes with a 18-55mm zoom lens included to get you started shooting from day one with a lens that's ready for just about anything. The 18-55 is a versatile lens that can shoot in wide-angle to your standard 55mm, making it a great all purpose lens. However, any of the Sony E-mount or A-mount lenses will work with the NEX-C3, allowing you to stock up your lens arsenal for whatever the shoot calls for, knowing you'll able to able to capture it all without being weighed down by a heavy camera body.
Among the plethora of features and functions, Sony gave the NEX-C3 a 25-point auto focus to ensure that your images will be accurate and precise no matter what the situation. Other features designed to keep your images looking sharp include face detection, smile shutter, and image stabilization. While the camera provides manual options for shooting it also makes things super-simple for those times when you just want to snap away. The numerous auto scene modes can take all the guesswork out of shooting, turning the NEX-C3 into a point-and-shoot when that's what you want.

As a long time digital SLR user I have never really been happy with the picture quality from compact cameras. This camera has completely changed my mind. The photos are beautiful with accurate color rendition, sharp focus and very little noise. The camera itself is like a little jewel - well made and easy to handle. The features are excellent, even the intelligent auto mode works surprisingly well. It recognizes scene types and sets the camera accordingly. I just came back from vacation and found that the 400 or so photos that I took all looked sharp and accurately exposed. I am most pleased with this camera. Anyone looking to purchase a small, light weight camera with the quality of a full size SLR should seriously consider this camera.

I really enjoyed using the camera, and the sensor is fantastic, especially shooting raw. But the 18-55 is just a so-so lens. I feel the sensor is wasted. I ended up going with a Panasonic G3; sensor nearly as good at high ISO, but with worse dynamic range. Plus it has a built-in viewfinder. The lenses (20 f1.7, 14-45, 100-300) are simply fantastic for the size and price. As a system, I find it superior overall.

I bought this camera because i could use my dormant Olympus OM lenses with it. I love my old manual analog cameras. I was originally scared at how small it was, because my hands are big. But it is so easy to use. Fewer controls than most digital cameras and explanations of each function. In this case small is beautiful and the pictures are too. I love the manual operation.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-C3 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
The size of this camera is just right, and the image quality is outstanding. I've taken mostly handheld, low-light photos, and they all turn out perfectly. The size and weight are right on, and the build quality is outstanding. It feels like I'm using a high quality SLR, but getting away with a portable point and shoot. I do wish Sony made a digital viewfinder -- sometimes it would be nice to frame a photo without using the lcd screen.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-C3 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
I'm using this camera at 3 month. It's really amazing taking pictures at night both inside and outside. With stabilizing the camera, shooting at night landscape I can get very clear images. It's very easy to setup the camera even the shortcuts at the manual mode. The recording in HD resolution has a good quality, even seen on Full HD LED TV. I think the frame rate would be better or even it would have slow motion mode. I was thinking that the built-in effects would be useless (my wife is specialist in editing pictures), but I was astonished with the capacity of the image processor. This processor can correct the blur when taking pictures in moviment with great efficiency. The cost-effective is very good. The possibility of change lens is a great positive point. The Panorama function is nice and the software can do the union of all pictures taken without distorting the final image when using something to stabilize the camera. The battery-life is good and it can be recharged quickly.

I wanted an in-between point and shoot and dslr....this is great. the only issue I've had is getting images in clear focus using the LCD screen. A viewfinder is in order if you want to use Manual Focus.

I was disappointed that the NEX-C3 kit. with the Sony E 18-55mm lens, didn't include either the camera body cap or the rear lens cover. The lens came attached to the body. Maybe it's just me but, an inconvenience to order them separately.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-C3 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
Great point and shoot camera. Fine resolution because of the sensor size. The kit lens is highly satisfactory. This camera is rather a bargin and if one is comfortable with the ergonomics, it is a great alternative to an entry level DSLR. I am a raw shooter and run everything through LR3. The beta is out for the NEX-C3 and it works well. Otherwise the JPEG output is very satisfactory. i don't use video so I can't comment on that feature.

Comments about Sony Alpha NEX-C3 Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):
My old point-and-shoot died, and I decided rather than replace it, I'd prefer to splurge on a serious upgrade. This camera is perfect: simple menus let you make adjustments without a PhD. For example, my pictures taken with my kitchen cabinets in the background often turn out too red. Easy solution: press the button at the center of the wheel for the Photo Creativity menu, choose Color, turn the wheel to make the picture cooler. The menu is intuitive, not really technical (although it also has options to change the settings if you really know what you're doing, which I don't). I've been really happy with the pictures I've taken so far.
On the downside, the accessories are expensive, and also, when attaching the flash, the connectors seem a little delicate and I worry about breaking them. The camera was a gift but I selected it & asked my spouse to get it for me.

In professional quality photos with just a touch ...
My use is just recreational, but I think investing in upgrading courses.
