The Vivitar Macro Extension Tube Set (Set of 3) for Canon EF gives you three different sized extension tubes (13 mm, 21 mm, 31 mm) that allow you to make close-up photos using your digital or film SLR camera. Simply attach the tube or tubes to your camera. By attaching one of your lenses to an extension tube, or any combination of one, two or three extension tubes, you can vary the amount of magnification and focus close, closer, or much closer, to your subject. The extension tubes have no optical components, and convert almost any lens into a close-up lens. These extension tubes are able to maintain autofocus and TTL auto exposure.

Bought these extension tubes to try out Macro photography with my 60D. the set's plastic is pretty well made, however, the lens fit is on the tighter side. had no problem getting the AF working with my Sigma 50mm 1.4 although you'll most likely be tinkering with MF. For the money and if you're not serious about investing in a macro lens or more expensive tube sets (kenko, canon) I would say this is a great option for the price.
I have yet to try this on the 70-200 f2.8 OS and probably won't until I'm more confident that it can handle the weight first.

My Kenko tubes set & EF12 were stolen, so I was looking for a cheaper alternative to go with a new 100mm macro lens, so I tried the Vivitar.
Compared to both Canon and Kenko, these are mediocre. Not terrible, just... meh.
I get ERR99 codes every so often, when used with Canon 100mm 2.8 macro or Canon 50mm 1.8, on a 40D; easily cleared, but frustrating.
Stacking them is also problematic, but it could be the 12mm unit that's the problem, it doesn't work consistently alone or stacked.
The fit is sloppy & loose (looser than my Kenkos or Canons were), but when they work, they're fine. They're just a bit hit-or-miss.
There's no inside wall, so the gold colored contacts are exposed, I assume they add potential reflections/color cast.
When I finally get tired of these, I'll get Kenkos again.

Comments about Vivitar Macro Extension Tube Set (Set of 3) for Canon EF:
Does exactly what macro tubes are supposed to do. I have no complaints about image quality. As some reviewers say the connections are a bit stiff and grabby but if play with them a bit before using you get a feel for them and it's not a problem. For the money these are a great buy.

Care has to be taken when attaching to camera and lens so you don't crossthread. Excellent economy substitute for a macro lens. Performs as advertised.

These are really cool once you figure out how to use them. Would totally recommend these. They are much more affordable than buying a single Canon branded tube.

Comments about Vivitar Macro Extension Tube Set (Set of 3) for Canon EF:
Ok for the price, but the tubes feel "grabby" when taking them apart or adding to a lens. Functionality is fine otherwise, and they were not too bad a price.

Comments about Vivitar Macro Extension Tube Set (Set of 3) for Canon EF:
I will mainly use these tubes to turn my 70 - 200 Canon into a macro lens. During summer I spend 5 - 6 weeks at my resort, a place by the sea w lots of pine and oak & an abundance of interesting insects of all sorts. When you combine a zoom lens w tubes, you can use the zoom ring for focusing, very convenient when filming small objects moving towards or away from camera, since pulling focus towards cam decreases object size, and vice versa.

Comments about Vivitar Macro Extension Tube Set (Set of 3) for Canon EF:
Use these with a couple different Canon lenses for macro shots. They work but the alignment is not the best. Taking them off or putting them on can be a bit cumbersome because of the alignment and catch mechanisms. For the money... I guess they are OK... Since I bought these to play with while I learn macro technique and develop skills, I can't complain. Eventually I will replace them with real macro lenses.

Comments about Vivitar Macro Extension Tube Set (Set of 3) for Canon EF:
I use extension tubes regularly for my macro work, and these tubes are just fine. They are of a high quality as is typical of Vivitar and while I did not use or try the Canon tubes it is really hard to see how those could be any better. These fit snug and the push-thru electrical contacts are designed robustly. My only complaint is not with the product but with the concept: Extension tubes make working with ANY lens more difficult, so be aware of that going in to it.

A simple solution to allow your lenses to focus closer. Retains automatic functions. Seems sturdy, the only problem is that the lens mount is rather tight.
