My Canon 430ex II WILL lock to it. But I have to force it a little harder than I'm comfortable with doing.
Now this adapter has a screw in the side for you to tighten against the flash's foot. I just fear doing damage to my flash with that.
I wouldn't use it if I was mounting at any other angle than level with the ground.

I love the great quality of the shoe! My only complaint is that it has compatibility issues with the mount of the flex tt5 radio trigger. It fits tight about 2/3 of the way and gets stuck. It is still usable, but it worries me a little that it's not all the way on.
All it needs is a little filing on the one side to allow it to pass by the problem, but for a universal shoe I shouldn't have to do this.
