The black RS-2 Sport 2 Camera Strap from Black Rapid has been improved to be even more of a flexible and functional camera strap for those who like to shoot outdoors. The underarm support now provides an added measure of stability when shooting. When at rest, it can be worn as a sling-style cross-body strap that holds your camera securely and ready to be slid up to shooting level.

Love BR, but Prefer Orgl Larger RS-Sport
If you don't have a Black Rapid, don't even think about it. Get one! I have tried many fancy and more expensive straps; the BR approach is the best, bar none.

That having been said, the Sport models (the original and this RS Sport 2) are a bit different. The basic straps like the RS-4 & 5 are a bit softer in their cloth construction and they adapt to either a left shoulder or right shoulder sling configuration easily - which may be important to some folks. (No one writes about this but the Sport models -- 2 or orig'l -- are only designed to go on the left shoulder with the camera on your right hip. The RS 4 & 5 roll either way!)
The Sport models have an extra stap (under-the-arm)that keeps the whole sling from sliding forward and back (requiring continued readjustment of the shoulder pad's position) and this is a nice feature, especially with a larger camera and/or a larger lens.
They are also made with a much heavier nylon-esque webbing material so they are clearly likely to be more durable.
I think the idea of the latest Sport 2 model was to make a bit narrower strap that would afford the constrained pad positioning, but not be so cumbersome. Without having seen one, I ordered the Sport 2. But I found it a bit "small"; strong material, no shoulder pad movement (the sling stays well-positioned), but it felt too insubstantial. I ordered the original Sport and am much happier.
I shoot a D90 with mid to a sometimes large (70-200) lens. IF you have a small entry level DSLR and only a kit lens, I'd definitely consider the Sport 2, but otherwise I'd go with the original Sport. And, if you can, borrow someone's RS-4 for a lighter more easier to throw on strap. I am not selling mine; sometimes I will use it (especially with a lighter lens), but in-the-field bigger lens adventures will call for the original Sport.

This is a very comfortable strap and I love how it lifts the weight of the camera and heavy lens from the back of your neck. No more shoulder pain. But... I've had this strap a couple of months and the fastener (R3) has already completely unattached itself from the bottom of the camera, so I can no longer trust it. I've heard other complaints about this issue, and I thought the new fastener resolved it, but apparently not. Definitely would NOT buy again. :(

I carried my Canon 5DII all over Portland, OR for the past 5 days. Not only is my camera "at the ready" to shoot, not once did I experience neck or shoulder discomfort.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-2 Sport 2 Camera Strap (Black):
I bought this strap because I needed something different. Regular straps are to be hung around the neck but this is to me just uncomfortable and yes, a pain in the neck (pun intended).
After much research I opted for this R-Strap and I'm extremely happy I did. The straps adjust easily and the fit for me is perfect (as a point of reference, I'm 5'10" and 185lbs.). I swing the camera up and it lands nicely at eye level.
I do recommend, just for good measure and as a precaution, that you tighten the fastener and carabiner at the beginning of your shooting day. Again, this is just a precaution as I've not had a problem with it so far.

I do alot of hiking and my camera all ways comes along. The Black Rapid is well suited for studio work and light walking but not suited for light climbing and bending because the camera will swing. However the strap is light and easy to use.

One of the best items I ever bought. I thought about if for a while before getting it and I should have never waited so long. The camera stays on my side and doesn't move when locked down. Very comfortable and easy to use. However does take up more room in the bag though, but it's worth it.

I am very glad I got the RS-2 Camera Strap. I'm 6 feet tall, and 175 pounds. It fits nicely and the camera lays at a good place on my hip. This product beats the heck out of neck Straps.

Seems like a good idea and works great if you're not shooting. But as soon as you raise your camera, the shoulder strap drops to your elbow and is a constant problem.
The under arm strap does keep the shoulder strap from biting into your neck, but the price and problem of being tangled up in your camera strap is not worth it.

I'm a videographer who also takes photos for pleasure. This strap is comfortable, secure, and a quantum leap above regular fixed straps, like the kind that come free with your camera. As a videographer, I like that I can get a steadier shot by putting tension on the strap, yet adjust position by sliding the camera along the webbing.

Very useful for me- makes it possible to take pictures on the go, without any inconvenience, keeping the camera safe and ready. Also, it makes it easy to change lenses, wear a backpack and save lots of money on expansive bags, like sling bags, etc.

This is an excellent way to carry your camera body. I chose this model over the others b/c I have a small body frame and this slim design fits me comfortably. I also like the "brad" thingy that goes underneath armpit, keeps it from sliding up to your neck. The attachments works, screw it into the body of your camera and let it lay upsidedown and out of the way, having both your hands free to do whatever. I thought the price was rather steep for something so simple but in the end, it was worth the investment. I use this on my Canon 7D and a 100mm 2.8L Macro Lens. I don't have that expensive D Mount thingy to even the weight so it's not centered properly, but it holds well underneath the camera body itself and doesn't get in my way.

What a huge improvement over the stock neck strap that came with my nikon d7000. It's comfortable and doesn't get in the way when taking your shots. I highly recommend this to anyone that owns a DSLR......a must have!

This strap is the most comfortable and secure one that i have used. Had the RS-4 but wanted to upgrade so i tried this one. If you havent tried a Black Rapid Strap you really should. They might seem expensive but once you try one on you will see that they are definitely worth the price.

Comments about BlackRapid RS-2 Sport 2 Camera Strap (Black):
Anything you hate about your old strap is fixed by this one. Its almost like not wearing a strap and having your camera ready at your side whenever you need it. A simple slid lock holds your camera in place so when you don't need it you can set it and forget it. Great weight distribution also it is easy to unhook the camera for those shots just out of the straps reach and you can't reposition your body. It can also hook into the tripod collar on some of your larger lenses which makes walking around with a large telephoto much easier and comfortable.
Only downside is it uses threaded hole for your tripod mount so if you are a fan of tripod shooting get a Manfrotto becauase there is an adapter for the Manfrotto tripod heads.
I may not be your friend but if you walk around a lot and you think there might be a better camera strap this is it get it.

The BlackRapid strap is a lot better than the regular neck straps that came with my DSLR. It especially comes in handy when you have a heavy long lens attached to your camera body. One of the problems I have with the standard neck strap is if I didn't have the strap around my neck when I shot vertical the strap would sometimes get in the way, however the BlackRapid doesn't get in the way since it attaches to your camera using the tripod mount. The strap distributes the weight of the camera/lens evenly and the sport 2 version fits me just right. It feels strong and well made, I'm comfortable with having my gear on it. Although, I think the price is a little high for a camera strap, it's defiantly a very nice strap.

I use this strap at least once a week with Nikon D80 and long lens. Much easier to get the camera up for quick shots, much less neck irritation when wearing for long periods. Glad I got away from the stock strap
