Comments about Velbon CX-586/F 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with 2-Way Fluid Head:
I use this tripod with the Panasonic HDC-SD90 to make surfing videos. I needed smooth panning to keep up with the action and this tripod has performed well for a reasonable price. Even when my video camera is at maximum zoom the panning action is smooth enough to make good videos.
My video camera weighs less than a pound and this tripod is meant for something heavier. To compensate I hang a weight, such as a water bottle, from the tripod to help keep it stable.
You cannot detach the head from the tripod legs.
