GGI USB Cassette to MP3 Converter
The USB Cassette to MP3 Converter from GGI connects to your computer to create MP3 files out of cassettes, allowing you to dust off that box of tapes and revitalize your collection. All those great – yet outmoded and linear – Prince albums, Grateful Dead bootlegs, and ninth-grade mix tapes will find new life on your iPod, computer, or car stereo. Transfer the old classics to the current medium so you can load them on any device and share them with friends.
The plug-and-play USB Cassette to MP3 Converter comes with Windows software that walks you through the conversion process. There you can select the bit rate of the MP3 files you're creating.
Sporting the familiar shape of a portable cassette player, the USB Cassette to MP3 Converter includes all the standard playback-control buttons of a classic Walkman as well as a volume-control dial. There's a standard 3.5mm jack for your headphones and a slot for batteries in case you want to take those tapes out on a jog before you get around to converting them. Or just power the device via USB.

Using this for converting cassette tapes to mp3s. The product works great and the quality is even better than expected. Could've used more instruction on the software end of things though, but here's some advice in the review. Under the file menu, instead of export, there's a export multiple tracks option, use that instead of exporting everything one at a time. Saves a bunch of time and effort (also allows you to give artist and album info for all the tracks). All in all definitely recommend this product and hope this info helps.

I purchased it as a gift for a Thai Buddhist Temple to enable them to copy some old tape recordings.
I had purchased a converter from another dealer and it worked very well. I tested your unit with the same tape and the output was identical. Your converter was identical to my earlier purchase except for the logo and color of the unit. Your unit was almost exactly 50% less expensive but definately not a "cheaper" item. I will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good converter

I bought this product to play cassettes and also to transfer them to my computer. Right out of the box I was struck by how flimsy this product is. I used their batteries, and a number of new batteries, and at best it would rewind/fast forward *very slowly* and pressing PLAY did nothing or played super slowly. The battery compartment is INSIDE the tape player (i.e. you have to remove the tape to put the batteries in) and the whole thing felt like it was so poorly made. I returned it and bought a regular walkman-style player elsewhere. With a 3.5mm male-to-male cable (which you can buy for about $5) and Audacity (free s/w) I record my tapes to my mac easily. You don't need a special tape player (and definitely not THIS one!) This product is much cheaper than others like it -- there's a reason for that. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone.

Can't give it more than 2 stars because I didn't actually use it. It is well made and does have a rewind feature (unlike another brand), however, it opens on the side and seemed too flimsy and awkward to use with a sideways door. However, B&H Photo accepted the return and quickly provided an RMA number and it was very easy to deal with them. I really like this store!

Converting old cassettes work worked fine.The Audacity software worked flawlessly unlike some of the other conversion software I previously tried. However it took awhile to find where to put the batteries in since the instructions didn't show where.

It was easy to use and the quality of the converted MP3 was OK. However, while converting the third casette the unit suddenly started producing very loud audio noise and after about 5 seconds stopped. It never worked again to do anything. No rewind, no drive motor, nothing. B&H took it back prepaid and asked if I wanted a replacement or refund. I took a replacement since I assume I just had a lemon. Time will tell. I will say the return service was excellent so I will certainly do more business with B&H.

This product works good if I just want to listen to cassettes in my car. For that I could have maybe just bought a simple converter. As far as downloading from cassette to my computer. the directions are to shallow. The directions are pretty bad if you're just an average guy and not a computer whiz.
