Iomega 1.5TB Prestige SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive
Small enough to fit in a bag, purse, or pocket, the 1.5TB Prestige SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive is a sleek, secure, high-capacity storage solution from Iomega. Outfitted with an extremely fast USB 3.0 interface, the drive features data transfer speeds at up to 5Gbps; however, if you don't have a USB 3.0 port, the drive is backwards compatible with a USB 2.0 port, using the included cable. You can also utilize one of Iomega's separately-sold USB 3.0 adapters. The drive is powered by its USB connection and it is formatted in NTFS. As such, it is plug-and-play ready for your Windows laptop but can be easily reformatted to work with your Mac.
To ensure that your data, photos, music, videos, or files are secure, the drive features Iomega's built-in Drop Shock technology, their built-in AES 256 bit encryption, and their downloadable protection software suite. With the encryption, you can be confident that your data will remain safe wherever you take the drive. In addition, the software suite allows you to easily back up your data online or on the drive. It also ensures that your online experience is safe and free from spyware or viruses. The built-in Drop Shock technology utilizes internal cushioning to protect your drive if it's dropped from a height of up to 36 inches. All told, Iomega's put together a sleek, portable external hard drive great for securely taking all of your files with you.

Not so great: The cord that comes with this drives falls out several times during each use, even when not moving one inch from your workspace.Also, This is the worst cord ever created. NOT a Mini USB. Unstable, and broke within 30 days of purchasing brand new. Also within 30 days of purchase, the drive is no longer recognized when inserted into computer.NOT buying IOMEGA Product Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Ever Again.Keep in mind, buying USB 3.0 is pointless as you will rarely find a 3.0 port anywhere within the next two years - External Hard Drive's on average lasts 18 months.I would buy an HP before I bought Iomega again. THAT is how bad this [$] product is.

I am using this device to store my video files and most of the space is already taken up. It's difficult to determine the actual read/write speed without a USB 3.0 port.
The good:

+ The hard drive is cushioned to be able to withstand a small height
