The GigaWorks T40 Series II Speakers from Creative are designed to deliver stellar-quality audio for your computer, TV, or gaming system. Each speaker features two dual-woven glass fiber drivers as well as a silk dome tweeter. As such, the speakers deliver crystal clear highs as well as full-range audio. In addition, the speakers feature the built-in BasXPort technology that allows the speakers to deliver rich, exceptional bass without the need for a subwoofer. The frequency range for the speakers is 50Hz to 20kHz. For managing your sound, there are three different knobs: one for treble, bass, and volume.
To start using the speakers, connect the built-in cable on the right speaker to the left speaker. From the left speaker, you can use a 3.5mm cable to connect to the audio-in jack on your computer. You can also utilize the included RCA-to-stereo adapter for connecting the speakers to your gaming system or TV.

I've had a pair of T20s as computer speakers for almost four years; they still deliver great sound and I was very comfortable buying these T40s, despite the price, for our living room. It's true they're intended as computer speakers, so the cord between them is not that long (maybe 4 feet), and the very best sound is also about three or four feet away. Nevertheless, even at twenty feet, the sound has a very precise feel, clear, controlled, and unstrained - very easy to listen to for long periods or eg. while reading. If you're looking for a booming bass or auditorium speakers, these are not for you. These are for listeners who want an accurate, unmuddied sound. With the grills on, they have a tall silhouette, minimalist black monoliths that almost vanish.

As one of those fortunates/unfortunates who loved the no longer available Klipsch ProMedia 2.0s until the volume control took them to cheap-parts heaven, I chose these as replacements. I use them with a 21-inch kitchen television and also for occasional background ipod playing. The Klipschs were tight, focused, accurate, with the obvious bass limitations of this category of powered speakers. The T40s, slightly larger, are tight, accurate, with improved bass response, capable of higher undistorted volume. For someone with limited space and understanding of the realistic capabilities of such speakers, these are a solid choice at a reasonable price, beautifully designed (as long as you keep the grill covers on to cover the yellow speaker cones, which are distinctive but not to everyone's taste). For those who are annoyed by the blue on light that surrounds the volume control, do what I did. Buy a black rubber o-ring with 5/8 interior opening (either #11 or #12), and it will cover and be almost invisible.

These are an economical alternative to a sound bar for a TV or to use as a speaker system for a large gathering around a computer screen. The speakers deliver a good sound level, with a fairly good frequency range. Low end is noticeably better than most inexpensive computer speakers

I use them with my laptop to listen music and videos. I love the sound, just enough bass and we can clearly ear each instrument and the voice and enough power to get fun. For the price I am more than satisfied but don't compare them with professionals speakers that cost thousands of dollars. Design is so so.
