Comments about Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCI Express Sound Card:
Card was not recognized in my Windows 7, AMD machine. The latest drivers were downloaded and installed, settings were made correctly in BIOS, no IRC conflicts were found, and I reinstalled my system software, amongst many other things tried. Nothing rectified the situation; card installed - no sound; card removed - sound. To make matters worse, Creative's technical support was insulting and non-helpful and it took three days to get the canned response, "try checking the knowledge base." Hey, thanks. I hadn't thought of that. I had heard horror stories about their awful support but always written it off as the venting of disgruntled hotheads, but now I see that there is truth in the negative opinion so many have of their products and tech support. I was literally told, "I'm sorry. I've told you everything I can. I can't help you." All I wanted was to get the card working in my machine like they said it would. I will never buy another Creative product.
In contrast, B&H's customer service was stellar. I thought I was going to have to bang my head against another large company after my experience with Creative, but my rep was polite and helpful. The card was RMAd with no questions asked (other than why I was returning it.)
I am purchasing an audio interface (bypassing the sound card and Creative altogether) and because of their fine service, am purchasing it from B&H.
