Touted as a provider of AV entertainment for the new age, Yamaha's AVENTAGE series takes this job very seriously. The AVENTAGE line represents a dramatic, inspired leap forward in audio/video component design. These receivers bring studio-grade sound and sophisticated video enhancement to your home with unparalleled attention to detail in design, engineering and fabrication. Yamaha has rethought every electrical path, part, piece and every material to maximize performance. These details at first glance might not seem to affect the quality of sight, sound and control -- but when brought together in an AVENTAGE component, produce a work of visual and acoustic art.
As a member of this highly esteemed line, the RX-710 A/V Receiver (Black) packs in several features that allow for exceptional audio and video reproduction to enhance your movies, music and games. It features A.R.T. (Anti-Resonance Technology) with a fifth foot in the center of the unit to dampen vibrations from the power transformer, power transistors and heat sinks as well as vibrations that might be caused by the sound from your speakers.
Of course, the 7.1-channel RX-710 has all of the features you would expect from an A/V receiver in its class. It boasts six assignable HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, which carry 3D video, Deep Color, x.v. Color and allow for an Audio Return Channel. They can also upscale analog video to full HD 1080p for crisp, clear imaging from any source input. With built-in decoding for several high definition audio formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, you can enjoy true immersion in your entertainment.
This receiver also offers network functionality, so it can connect to your home network to access vTuner internet radio and stream stations like Pandora and Rhapsody, or stream music files from a PC. It's also SIRIUS Satellite Radio ready, so if you have a subscription you can stream commercial-free content from there as well. And, after you download the AV Controller App from the iTunes App Store you can control power on/off, volume, input and DSP mode selection and more from your iPhone (Android app coming soon). You can also operate various functions via the built-in web browser control. Another way it allows for exceptional audio is the Compressed Music Enhancer, which restores clarity to music files from sources like an iPod or CD player.
Finally, the on-screen advanced GUI (graphical user interface) allows for seamless, intuitive operation of your new RX-710. Yamaha's latest GUI has a high resolution display with clear, easy-to-use menus and also includes a selectable Status Bar that shows input source, volume level, DSP mode and audio format. The GUI can be displayed over both normal and 3D pictures. An added convenience is the four SCENE buttons. All in all the RX-710 offers a solid design, network functionality and high-grade A/V processing that will allow it to power your home theater for years to come. Simply add speakers, a Blu-ray disc or DVD player and TV and your setup will be complete.

Comments about Yamaha RX-710 A/V Receiver (Black):
I bought the Yamaha RX-A710 to replace my current receiver because it did not support hdmi video. I have all my devices plugging into the amp via hdmi and send one hdmi cable to the Samsung LED tv. The installation was easy and the sound is perfect. One thing I really liked was the up convert the Yamaha does to my family VHS video tapes. Before they were not that good. Now they are crystal clear and expanded to wide screen. I am sure my new tv might be helping on this. I would highly recommend this receiver/amp.

Comments about Yamaha RX-710 A/V Receiver (Black):
I am using this receiver for my 5.1 theater system that includes Klipsch Reference 5 speakers with a 60" Sharp LED TV. The receiver was easy to set up and I used the 2 spare spearker channels to bi-amp my from speakers. Sound quality is great and the iPhone application is easy to use especially when choosing different surround modes or Internet radio channels. Set up the TV to talk over HDMI to reciever - using the TV remote just turn on the TV and the reciever comes on as well, and the volume controls the receiver as well. Turn off the receiver and the TV works normally - very nice feature. Tried to use Internet Radio with an ethernet wireless bridge; use a wired connection as wireless causes radio to stop and start - this is not the receivers fault. I would have given the receiver 5 stars if it had more power. I have been doing business with B&H over 15 years - I can't recommend them highly enough. I am a very satisfied customer.

Comments about Yamaha RX-710 A/V Receiver (Black):
I replaced an older Yamaha reciever that didn't use HDMI. The primary reason for the new one was the HDMI compatiability and the 3D pass through which will be important when I replace the TV. The sound decoders are great and the ease of setup for the imputs and the re-labeling of the imputs was easy. I really like the netowrk ability of the unit so I can stream Pandora and get firmware updates automatically. The only drawback (the only) is no 6 channel analog inputs for my SACD player.
