The 1TB MiniStation Plus Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Silver) from Buffalo is a stellar portable hard drive that gives you ample storage and a variety of advanced features. The drive can hold up to 1TB of storage and features the USB 3.0 interface for connecting to your computer. With USB 3.0, the drive can access and transfer data at speeds of up to 5Gbps.* That USB 3.0 port is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 as well. Whether you are using USB 3.0 or 2.0, the drive is also powered by the USB interface, so you don't have to worry about lugging around a power adapter.

I'm not all that technically inclined so I won't even attempt to comment on the technical specifications of this item other than to say I needed at least 1 TB of storage to match the capacity of my iMac. This item is highly rated and B&H had the best price. So this is the external storage I chose and I have no regrets. Installation on an iMac was simple and quick. Everything seems to be humming along as it should, backing up in accordance with the settings in TimeMachine. I have it sitting on my iMac pedestal tucked behind the monitor and I can't hear a thing. I don't know what more I could ask.
