The DY-700 combines three 1/2" CCDs with the uncompromising quality of the D9 (Digital-S) format, to deliver broadcast ready recordings of incredible fidelity. In addition to superior resolution, it offers the exceptional sensitivity of JVC's acclaimed LOLUX mode, advanced exposure and white balance control, Variable Scan, 10x Picture Search, Heavy-Duty Transport mechanism and a host of operational conveniences, making it ideal for both studio and field applications. The DY-700 incorporates all the powerful features you've come to expect from a high-end JVC camera, in a durable package built to withstand the abuse of service in the field.
Three 1/2" CCDs deliver an outstanding 750 lines of horizontal resolution, while JVC's innovative micro-lens technology ensures efficient light conversion with a sensitivity of f/ at 2000 Lux and a superb S/N ratio of 62 dB.
LOLUX mode for shooting when there is almost no light. Capture superb pictures with excellent color balance at just 1.5 Lux illumination. By combining electronic Gain boost and unique dual pixel readout technology, LOLUX mode is achieved with almost no increase in noise.
Records two independent, editable 16-bit, 48 kHz digital audio tracks and two linear cue tracks for monitoring (during search).
In addition to the supplied camera mounted Mic, two external microphone can be connected via the rear XLR connectors. Mic inputs also supply 48v phantom power which can be switched off when not in use.
Side-mounted speaker lets you monitor audio in playback and recording modes without headphones. The speaker also delivers audible warnings.
Built-in switchable Automatic Editing Function ensures smooth cuts with minimal distortion, while the Quick Review function lets you quickly and easily check the footage just shot. Also offers high speed picture search of up to 10x normal speed in forward and reverse.
Losing a few seconds to set up can sometimes mean losing a shot. When Quick Record mode is turned on, the camera is set to Auto Iris, even if the lens is set to manual. The Automatic Level Control (ALC) with Extended Electronic Iris (EEI) is also activated, providing variable gain and variable shutter, allowing continuous shooting from dark indoors to bright outdoors without the need to change Gain, Iris or ND filter.
Full Time Auto White (FAW) circuit automatically tracks color temperatures. This allows continuous shooting from incandescent to fluorescent to outdoors without adjusting white balance or changing the filter wheel.
In addition to ATW, an Auto Black circuit ensures perfect black balance under changing environments. No need to interrupt shooting to white balance.
The Multi-Zone Iris Weighting system gives priority to objects at the central and lower portions of the picture for accurate Auto Iris exposures under any condition, even if a bright subject moves into the picture.
A SMPTE Time Code generator records time code in the sub-code area. The generator can be slaved to existing time code on the tape, or to an external master Time Code generator for multi-camera shooting. The camera also records time code data corresponding to date and time.
The Variable Scan function allows recording of computer monitors without the normal flicker. Shutter speed increments can be set in 305 steps from 1/60.1 to 1/208.4 of a second to precisely match the monitor's scan rate.
Viewfinder displays essential information, including audio levels, accumulated or remaining recording time, VCR operation, battery voltage and tape remaining time.
The remote control connector (RS-232) allows remote record start/stop operation via a wired remote control. Using the RS-232 interface you can also check the VCR status without interfering with camera operation. When the request is sent, diagnostics are run to check for failures such as head clogging and error rate.
The menu system lets you switch or set most basic functions, while referring to the counter or on-screen back-lit LCD display. Since the menu system is hierarchical, pressing one of the direct main access buttons lets you go directly to the menu you want.
Available with two types of viewfinders: VF-P115: a 1.5-inch CRT with 500 lines of horizontal resolution. VF-P116: Broadcast viewfinder, provides 600 lines of horizontal resolution, external adjustable peaking, 4 LED tally and a larger eyepiece.
The DY-700 records on 1/2" D9 digital tape stock. The D9 component digital format uses 4:2:2 color sampling, 8 bit component processing, a data rate of 50 Mbps, and 3.3:1 DCT (Discrete Cosine Transfer) based compression. All of which add up to give you some of the most beautiful pictures you will ever see.
