The EOS 3 represents the cutting edge of autofocus technology. A 45-point autofocus ellipse dominates the center of the viewfinder, and it is remarkably accurate. The user can select specific points, as on the EOS 1N and 1V, let the computer decide, or use the eye controlled focus to let the camera detect eye movement and move the autofocus to where you look. Missing a split-second off-center decisive moment is a thing of the past.
Sharing layout design, focusing screens, boosters and other accessories with the EOS-1 line, the EOS 3 can be easily operated by an EOS-1 user. It also features the same weather-resistance as the 1N. Together with Canon "L" lenses, it can be used in the worst of conditions. Canon's new Speedlite 550EX was introduced along with the 3, and together you can use flash at all shutter speeds for fast action or wide-aperture daylight portraits with fill flash.
