The JVC GY-DV5100U is a 1/2-inch CCD shoulder mount professional camcorder. This model offers enhanced image quality, modernized features, functions and greater convenience. In addition to the Standard DV/ Mini DV compatible mechanism common to all the professional JVC models, the GY-DV5100 has an all new 12-bit analog-to-digital converter and 24-bit DSP with user selectable detail frequency positions for optimized video performance. It outputs 800 horizontal line resolution and has even greater low-light sensitivity to f/13 at 2000 Lux. This camera also has an electronic Anamorphic Compression mode so you can shoot and output images in widescreen without any lens adapters. This package includes a black and white high resolution VF-P116U viewfinder.

>The Canon YH16X7KRS features high performance and specifications along with an internal focus style design. Its weight is only 1.98 lbs (0.9 kg). Canon's 16X has a high zoom ratio, a 7-112mm focal length and a wider angular field of view-49.1° x 37.8°, with a short minimum object distance of 1.0 meter. This model is designed to be mounted on Panasonic and JVC cameras.

Sweeper Heads
When dust adheres to the electronic video heads it can create "block noise" interference in the video signal. The GY-DV5100 has an advanced drum assembly with specially designed sweeper heads that remove any magnetic material dropped by the tape or any dust that may have entered from outside the VTR.
Auto Correction System
JVC's error correction system operates on a frame-by-frame basis to ensure accurate error compensation under all conditions. After optimally calibrating the waveform with a pre-filer circuit, the voltage control oscillator setup value is changed so that the reading of the clock phase is shifted to the position where the error rate is lowest. The result is accurate and consistent suppression of the block noise and reliable performance at all times.
Advanced Analog and Digital Processing
This camcorder uses a digital signal processor that incorporates a 12-bit analog to digital converter and a 24-bit DSP. ADC signals go straight to the DSP eliminating any signal degradation that may occur in additional analog circuits. This highly integrated "system on a chip" has 5 million gates, uses 0.13µ pitch CMOS process technology and includes edge enhancement technology to achieve superior detail reproduction. The result is extraordinarily clear and vivid picture reproduction with outstanding high definition detail enhancement and improved signal to noise ratio. The enhancement level can be adjusted to meet the users preference.
Detail Enhancement
The user is able to select the detail frequency from three pre-set positions. The selection will be based upon the application of overall sharpness.
Widescreen Recording
The GY-DV5100 can be set to record conventional 4:3 aspect or 16:9 widescreen at the touch of a button. Since the 3-CCD system is a 4:3 native aspect ratio the processor electronically converts the image to widescreen eliminating the need for an anamorphic lens adapter.
Full Auto Shooting Mode
When its simply not possible to adjust the camera for white balance and gain settings the Full Auto Shooting mode provides point-and-shoot ease of operation. Activating Full Auto puts the camera in the auto iris mode even if the lens is set to manual. Auto Video Level Control (ALC) is activated, along with Electronic Iris (EEI) which provides both variable gain and variable shutter. Full Auto White sets color temperature. In this mode you may shoot continuously from dark to bright, from outdoors to indoors without changing gain, iris, white balance or ND filter.
Color Matrix
An advanced six-axis color matrix circuit effectively compensates optics-related color reproduction to ensure more natural colors and tones. Five color matrix pre-sets are provided to give more creative control over the look and feel of your images.
Tri-Mode Color LCD Display
The GY-DV5100 has a 2.5" color LCD monitor built onto the side of the camcorder. This display is a high resolution 440 lines LCD panel with advanced TFT technology. It has a peak adjust function that permits quick and effortless focusing. The display has three modes including
  • Video Only Mode
  • Data Only Mode
  • Data Overlay Video Mode
DR-DV5000 Hard Disk Recorder
The camcorder has a DV select switch on its rear panel so you can mount a DR-DV5000. With the switch is in the proper position the camcorder can make digital recordings directly to the disk recorder without the use of a FireWire cable.
Anton Bauer Gold Mount
The NTSC version of the GY-DV5100 comes with an Anton Bauer Gold Mount battery plate as standard equipment. The plate is compatible with Dionic, HyTron, ProPac and Trimpac batteries. The Gold Mount battery plate has a PowerTap connector designed for powering a camera mounted light. Any light connected via PowerTap can be set to turn on/off with the camera's record button.
