The Silvestri H is a unique offering in the world of medium format cameras, a versatile machine that produces stunning results without a lot of mass to carry. Unlike many other 6x7 and larger cameras, it is equally at home while handheld or upon a tripod, and offers the extreme creative control of interchangeable lenses which can quickly be swapped for one another in the field. It would be hard to imagine a better design for those wishing to do wideangle and super wideangle travel photography.
The H comes with a bayonet lensmount, and Silvestri modifies large format lenses from Rodenstock & Schneider by adding a helicoid focus ring and changing the shutters to the Copal Press type for speedy handheld work. The rear portion of the helicoid focus mounts feature the bayonet fittings which mate with the Silvestri body, facilitating a system for discerning professionals which allows you to work with the best focal length for the task at hand.
The H accepts 120 and 220 roll film backs which follow the Graflok International standard, and this includes the film backs which fit upon the Mamiya RB & RZ cameras as well as those originally made for 6x9 field and view cameras from Horseman, Graflex, Wista and others.
The H's included viewfinder moves in conjunction with the optional rise(15mm) and fall(10mm) of the body, and this rise and fall is easily adjusted with a wheel upon front of the camera. Optional viewfinder masks slip right into the front and correspond with the fields of view of the Rodenstock and Schneider offerings that the camera is designed around.
