Have you ever wished that your lens could focus closer than it does? Imagine that you could put a magnifying glass in front of your camera's lens. Close-up lenses work in this fashion and are the simplest and least expensive method of close-up photography. They are available in different "powers" (diopters). Proxars are close-up lenses which attach to the front of lenses using a Bay 60 filter mount. Proxars are available in three focal lengths: 0.5m, 1.0m, and 2.0m. These lenses can be used individually or in any combination to achieve ultra-close focus. The maximum magnification achieved with these attachments will depend on the focal length of your lens as well as the actual close focusing capability of that particular lens. Use of the Proxars does not alter the exposure so you can use the lens setting obtained from your normal exposure meter.
NOTE: With an 80mm Planar lens:
A Proxar 0.5 provides a focusing range of: 43.5 - 61.7cm (17 1/4 - 24 1/2")
A Proxar 1.0 provides a focusing range of: 55.8 - 107cm (22 1/4 - 42 1/2")
A Proxar 2.0 provides a focusing range of: 68 - 213cm (26 3/4 - 83 3/4")
A Proxar 1.0 + 0.5 provides a focusing range of: 36.9 - 46.2cm (14 1/2 - 18 1/4")
A Proxar 1.0 + 2.0 provides a focusing range of: 49.2 - 79.5cm (19 1/2 - 31 1/2")
